Lab Technician shall be capable of performing the following duties: • Supervise and perform quantitative and qualitative laboratory tests and analysis of gas, hydrocarbon, chemicals, water and other various substances in accordance with the established testing methods and instructions.
Support the implementation of ISO/IEC 17025 (BMS) policies and procedures to achieve reliable results and high level of accuracy and traceability in every process. • Prepare and standardize chemical reagents used in laboratory tests and on- line analyzers to obtain accurate results. • Supervise the collection of the routine/special gas / liquid / solid samples from the plant following internationally accepted standards of sampling procedures. • Perform special tests in the plant, such as moisture and oxygen in gas, dissolved oxygen, and free residual chlorine in water samples. • Enter the samples’ test analytical results in the PIES and computerized Laboratory Information System (LIMS) in an accurate manner. • Obtain and process the utility unit’s samples along with implementing ISO/IEC 17025 system and in conformance with the Company’s HSE and international Standards and practices. • Lead the preparation and standardization of chemical reagents used for the laboratory tests. • Report any operational issues, which might arise, that include operating instrument fault and/or apparatus damage. • Analyze and compute the samples test data and results using the computercontrolled laboratory apparatus and instruments in conjunction with the integrated PIES & LIMS. • Enter the samples’ test analytical results in PIES & in the computerized Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in an accurate manner. • Monitor and authorize results, and perform the final product analysis data entry in the Laboratory PIES & Information Management System (LIMS) to ensure data accuracy according to product specifications. • Investigate anomalies in the laboratory instrumentation and equipment and conduct analysis to identify the root cause of these anomalies. Then, report the results to the laboratory chemist for review and further action. • Assist in following up laboratory maintenance work and final testing of the repaired equipment to maintain the Lab’s continuous performance and ensure the business continuity.
Assist in the laboratory administrative activities as necessary. • Perform all non-routine analysis on special samples such as scales and sludge, and report results to the laboratory chemist. • Coordinate with the Laboratory Chemist with regard to analysis schedules, test runs, shutdowns, start-ups, technical surveys and inspection-related analysis of sludge and scales for corrosion control. • Review and report the analyses results to keep the management informed about the progress of initiatives and to facilitate decision making. • Plan and arrange for the calibration of testing equipment as per the set schedule. • Prepare a record of all calibrations.
