Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor-E&I as part of our Commercial team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be full time onshore site based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.


Objective:


  • Plan and execute site surveys to support construction, installation, and engineering activities with precision and efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain control points, benchmarks, and reference systems for accurate layout and alignment of pipelines, structures, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements in all survey operations.
  • Lead and supervise survey teams, assigning tasks and ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and QA/QC teams to resolve discrepancies and support project execution.
  • Manage survey data and documentation, including topographic maps, as-built records, and digital models.
  • Utilize and maintain surveying instruments and tools, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Implement safety protocols during survey activities, identifying and mitigating risks related to terrain and equipment.
  • Support construction progress tracking through regular site measurements and reporting.
  • Provide technical input during inspections and audits, representing the survey discipline in client and contractor meetings.
  • Train and mentor junior surveyors, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely reporting of survey results, deviations, and recommendations to project management.

Qualifications:
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all E&I quantity surveying activities to support construction, installation, and engineering operations.
  • Prepare, review, and verify material take-offs (MTOs) and quantities for E&I works, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project drawings and specifications.
  • Establish and maintain robust cost-control measures, including tracking of E&I material usage, labor productivity, and construction progress against budgeted quantities.
  • Lead and supervise QS/E&I support teams, ensuring effective task allocation, performance monitoring, and compliance with project timelines.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, construction, procurement, and QA/QC teams to ensure quantity data aligns with design, technical requirements, and field execution.
  • Conduct field verification, site measurements, and as-built quantity validation for cable routing, equipment installations, instrumentation loops, and associated supports.
  • Review and validate contractors’ invoices, variations, and change orders related to E&I scope, ensuring accuracy and contractual compliance.
  • Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and maintenance of all E&I quantity records, including drawings, measurement sheets, and cost reports.
  • Support construction teams by providing accurate quantity-related inputs for planning, scheduling, and progress reporting of E&I activities.
  • Monitor discrepancies between IFC drawings, construction changes, and actual site conditions, raising change notifications where required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards during all site visits and promote safe work practices across QS-related activities.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, and client representatives to address E&I quantity-related queries and provide technical/commercial support.
  • Mentor junior QS personnel, promoting skill development, consistency in methodology, and adherence to best QS practices.
