Systems Linux Engineer

A large-scale enterprise organization is seeking an experienced Systems Linux Engineer to manage and maintain its Linux server infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for system administration, security hardening, automation, and performance optimization across a sizeable and critical Linux environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support Linux server environments across distributions including RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or SUSE.
  • Perform system configuration, patching, and lifecycle management across the Linux estate.
  • Implement and maintain security hardening standards and CIS benchmarks on Linux systems.
  • Develop automation scripts and configuration management playbooks using Bash, Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning optimizations.
  • Manage storage mounts, filesystems, LVM configurations, and disk management on Linux systems.
  • Provide Linux-level troubleshooting and performance analysis support to application teams.
  • Maintain system documentation, build guides, and operational runbooks.
  • Coordinate patching cycles, planned maintenance windows, and change management activities.



Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration within enterprise environments.
  • Deep expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or Ubuntu at scale.
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Knowledge of Linux security hardening, SELinux/AppArmor, and CIS Benchmark implementation.
  • Understanding of storage, networking, and system performance tuning on Linux platforms.
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification is advantageous.
