JOB TITLE: Senior Drilling Engineer
Lead and control all aspects of well engineering, preparation of drilling and workover operations for the Uwainat Project, including well planning, program development and execution, ensuring assured well delivery by closely communicate with the other disciplines of the internal organization of Uwainat Project. Manage the safe and efficient implementation of the drilling program by providing technical assurance of contractor performance, overseeing logistics, materials, and personnel movements, and managing operational risks. Ensure full compliance with Company standards, project scope, schedule, cost, and QHSE requirements operationally efficiently, cost effectively with safety and environment protection as the priority. Involve in development of comprehensive field development plans, conduct risk assessments, and work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful execution of the project and be responsible for all well engineering and preparation for execution of well program, including but not limited to well engineering, conceptual well design including QAQC, drilling program, detailed drilling instruction for the well operations, procurement/tender for jack-up rig and drilling related services and materials. Prepare and present detailed technical documents for various regular meetings and liaise with Government (ADNOC/QatarEnergy) and Shareholder representatives on drilling related matters as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A Well Plans & Programs
·Develop a Well Delivery Plan that encompasses the scope of the well delivery of Uwainat project including the required deliverables for the well delivery, the timeline of the completion of each deliverable and necessary approvals from the shareholders and the authorities, overall contract strategy for the rig and all drilling related services, the timeline of the delivery of Long Lead Items (LLIs), for Uwainat project by consulting with and reporting to Uwainat Project Manager of Bunduq.
·Receive and review Basis of Well Design (BOD) as inputs for designing the wells to be drilled for Uwainat project. Make necessary clarification about the BOD with the other disciplines.
·Be responsible for the preparation of the drilling related deliverables, including but not limited to conceptual well design (including but not limited to, casing design of pilot hole/sidetrack hole as and when required, wellhead design, drilling fluid planning, cementing planning, well trajectory, etc), drilling risk assessment and risk mitigation plan, technical part of the tender document/technical evaluation report/award recommendation report, drilling program with time and cost estimations, detailed drilling instructions, equipment & materials load-out list, of the wells to be drilled in Uwainat project.
·Prepare Basis of Well Design (BOD), completion designs, testing plans, and operational procedures.
·Complete a drilling part of FDP by finalizing conceptual well design with the required technical specification of key elements of well constructions and the required specification of jack-up rig.
·Check, review and QAQC all the studies and reports prepared and/or developed by drilling services companies, such as PPFG/wellbore stability report, the 3rd party verification report of conceptual well design, drilling fluid planning study, conductor analysis study, the drilling part of any studies, reports and document for HSE planning, such as Drilling HSEIA.
·Check programmes such as drilling, testing and directional plots in conjunction with the Subsurface team (Geology, RE and PE), ensuring that future wells are correctly programmed from operational point of view.
·Ensure operational feasibility, compliance with Company and ADNOC standards.
A Drilling/Workover Operations
·Arrange the rig, various services, materials, and secure personnel, along with all other resources necessary for the execution of drilling operations. ▪ Mobilize the rig while ensuring its performance and compliance with specifications, standards, laws, regulations, and HSE requirements. ▪ Execute drilling operations in alignment with the defined strategy, program, and test plan. ▪ Direct the activities of Offshore Drilling Supervisor on the rig.
·Discuss operational problems with the Offshore Drilling Supervisor and direct the execution of immediate corrective action if required. ▪ Visit rig site for inspections or non-routine operations as deemed necessary. Include evaluating new equipment or materials for testing new operating procedures, handling major operational problems such as fishing in open hole, stuck string, kick, side tracking, etc. Evaluate the non-routine operations, prepares necessary programme procedure and supervises the execution.
·Ensure proper maintenance of records of all Company required drilling/workover equipment and tools. Includes advising the Logistics function of lost equipment and preparing requisitions for replacement and advising contractors to replace lost equipment.
·Act as relief Offshore Drilling Supervisor in emergency situations when Offshore Drilling Supervisor is removed from the rig
·Ensure the preparation and coordinate all necessary reports for the drilling/workover operations. Prepare requests for authorization forms pertaining to drilling/workover operations.
Well Control, Technical Safety & Quality Compliance
·Maintain a risk register for drilling operations. Prepare contingency procedures for well control, fishing, sidetracking, and lost circulation. Conduct drills and ensure team readiness.
·Maintain well control readiness by verifying BOP and critical equipment testing, ensuring adherence to HAZID/HAZOP/SIMOPS actions, and leading incident investigations with corrective actions.
·Ensure QA/QC compliance for drilling fluids, cementing, tubulars, and equipment. Maintain accurate records for tools and equipment, and coordinate the replacement of lost or damaged items.
Budgeting & Planning
·Carry out other similar or related duties such as preparing a vigilant budget estimates and submits to supervisor for approval, ensuring that all budgets are adhered to and providing justifications for variances to budget provisions, keeping abreast of development in reservoir and petroleum engineering information and techniques to improve the Section's efficiency, directing the preparation and reviewing various reports such as approval for drilling, testing programmes, well completion, monthly operations and monthly production/injection allocation reports, etc.
