About the job Senior Instrumentation Engineer

The Senior Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for executing and leading instrumentation engineering activities during FEED and Detailed Design (DD) phases for ADNOC Onshore projects under CPE. The role ensures delivery of high-quality engineering outputs in compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications, and international codes.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Lead and perform instrumentation design activities for FEED and DD phases.

  • Prepare and review: Instrument Index and Datasheets, P&IDs (instrumentation scope), Control Philosophy / Functional Design Specifications, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Instrument Hook-ups and Installation Drawings

  • Ensure design compliance with ADNOC Onshore standards and project specifications.
  • Design and specify: Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Fire & Gas Systems (FGS)

  • Participate in SIL classification and verification as per IEC 61508 / 61511.

  • Define control strategies and system architecture.
  • Prepare Material Requisitions (MR) and Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE).

  • Review vendor documents for instrumentation-related packages.

  • Ensure vendor compliance with project requirements and client standards.
  • Coordinate with Process, Electrical, Mechanical, and Piping disciplines.

  • Interface with client (CPE) and ADNOC stakeholders for design approvals.

  • Support and participate in: HAZOP / HAZID, SIL studies, Design review meetings
  • Ensure timely delivery of FEED and DD deliverables.

  • Maintain engineering quality, consistency, and documentation control.

  • Support project audits and design reviews.
  • Provide clarification to site queries during construction.

  • Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities when required.


KEY QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation / Electronics / Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 12–15 years of experience in Oil & Gas projects.

  • Strong experience in FEED and Detailed Design (DD) phases.

  • Prior experience working with ADNOC Onshore projects is highly preferred.

  • Experience working with international EPC contractors or engineering companies, preferably with exposure to CPE projects or Chinese EPC clients.

  • Experience in both greenfield and brownfield projects is an advantage.
  • Expertise in: DCS, PLC, SCADA systems, SIS / ESD / FGS systems, Field instrumentation (pressure, flow, level, analyzers)

  • Hands-on experience with: SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI / Intools), AVEVA E3D / PDMS

  • Strong knowledge of: ADNOC standards, IEC / ISA codes, SIL and functional safety lifecycle
  • Strong communication skills for client-facing roles.

  • Ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.

  • Capability to manage multiple deliverables under tight deadlines.
  • TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (FSE)

  • PMP or equivalent certification
