About the job DESKTOP SUPPORT ENGINEER

Job Summary



We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Engineer with hands-on experience in Microsoft 365 administration, backup, and restore operations. The ideal candidate will provide end-user support, manage device configurations, and ensure data protection through effective backup and recovery strategies within the Microsoft 365 environment.



Key Responsibilities



Desktop Support



  • Provide Level 1 & Level 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows OS and standard business applications.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access via Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
  • Handle hardware and software issues, including system upgrades and patching.
  • Support remote users using remote support tools.

Microsoft 365 Administration



  • Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Manage user provisioning, licensing, and access control.
  • Troubleshoot email flow, mailbox access, and collaboration tool issues.

Backup & Restore (Core Requirement)



  • Implement and manage backup solutions for Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Perform data backup, restoration, and disaster recovery operations.
  • Monitor backup jobs and ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Execute mailbox, file, and site-level restore requests.
  • Work with third-party backup tools (e.g., Veeam, AvePoint, or similar).
  • Develop and maintain backup policies, schedules, and documentation.

Security & Compliance



  • Ensure endpoint security, antivirus updates, and patch compliance.
  • Support basic security policies such as MFA, conditional access, and data protection.
  • Assist with audits and compliance requirements related to data backup and recovery.

Documentation & Reporting



  • Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and user guides.
  • Track incidents and service requests using ITSM tools.
  • Provide regular reports on backup status and support metrics.

Required Skills & Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in desktop support and Microsoft 365 administration.

Strong knowledge of:



  • Windows 10/11 environments
  • Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Active Directory & Azure AD (Entra ID)
  • Proven experience in Microsoft 365 backup and restore solutions.
  • Experience with backup tools like Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, AvePoint, or similar.
  • Familiarity with endpoint management tools (Intune is a plus).
  • Good understanding of networking basics (DNS, DHCP, VPN).

Preferred Qualifications



  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Modern Desktop Administrator, Microsoft 365 Certified).
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and service management tools.
