Purpose of the Role
The Islamic Teacher at Smart Vision School is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and inclusive Islamic Studies lessons that foster academic, spiritual, social, and emotional development. The teacher will create a positive and nurturing classroom environment, adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of learners, and cultivate a love of learning and curiosity about Islamic knowledge.
This role aligns with UK Teachers’ Standards, the KHDA Education Inspection Framework, and the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) curriculum for Islamic Studies, ensuring excellence in teaching, safeguarding, wellbeing, inclusion, and student achievement. The teacher will maintain effective communication with parents and colleagues and contribute to the wider SVS community.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Learning
Plan and deliver Islamic Studies lessons aligned with the UAE MoE curriculum and school schemes of work.
Use excellent subject knowledge and pedagogy to inspire students and foster spiritual, moral, and cultural development.
Adapt lessons to support Students of Determination, ELL learners, and students with diverse abilities.
Employ a variety of teaching strategies, including ICT and creative approaches, to enhance engagement.
Encourage students to become independent, confident, and lifelong learners.
Model best practice in academic integrity, critical thinking, and Islamic ethics.
Assessment, Recording, and Reporting
Assess and record student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
Support students in setting learning targets and achieving personal bests.
Produce clear, professional reports and maintain accurate records of academic, social, and spiritual development.
Pastoral and Behaviour Responsibilities
Establish and maintain consistent expectations for behaviour aligned with school policies and Islamic values.
Promote respect, empathy, and inclusion within the classroom and wider school community.
Take proactive measures to safeguard students from abuse, bullying, or discrimination.
Support students’ personal and spiritual wellbeing through mentoring and guidance.
Curriculum Development
Prepare schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with UAE MoE Islamic Studies curriculum and school standards.
Contribute to the development of teaching materials, assessment methods, and enrichment activities.
Embed UAE heritage, culture, and values across the curriculum.
Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high-quality provision and ensure cohesive learning experiences.
Professional Development and Contribution
Engage in continuous professional development, reflecting on teaching practice.
Actively participate in departmental and whole-school meetings and initiatives.
Support school events, after-school activities, and community engagement.
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity at all times.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Essential:
Relevant Islamic Studies qualification and outstanding subject knowledge
Minimum of two years’ teaching experience in a school setting
Strong understanding of assessment, differentiation, and inclusion
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and wellbeing requirements
