Roles & Responsibilities
Operating Melting Furnaces: Melting operators are responsible for setting up, monitoring, and controlling the operation of melting furnaces. They must ensure that the furnaces are properly heated to the required temperature for melting the specific metal or alloy.
Loading Materials: They load raw materials, such as scrap metal, ingots, or alloys, into the furnace in accordance with established procedures. The operator must accurately measure and weigh the materials to achieve the desired metal composition.
Monitoring Temperature and Conditions: Constantly monitoring and regulating the temperature, pressure, and other conditions within the furnace to ensure that the metal or alloy reaches its molten state and maintains the desired properties.
Alloy Mixing: In some cases, the melting operator may be responsible for adding specific alloys or additives to the molten metal to achieve the desired quality, composition, or characteristics.
Skimming and Cleaning: Removing impurities, slag, and other unwanted materials from the surface of the molten metal to improve the quality of the final product.
Safety and Environmental Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols and environmental regulations, which may include wearing protective gear, handling hazardous materials, and properly disposing of waste.
Troubleshooting: Identifying and addressing issues or malfunctions in the melting process, making adjustments as necessary to ensure the quality of the melted metal.
Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of the melting process, including temperature readings, materials used, and any incidents or irregularities that occur during the operation.
Quality Control: Ensuring that the melted metal meets the specified quality and composition requirements, which may involve conducting quality checks and tests.
Team Collaboration: Cooperating with other team members, such as foundry workers, technicians, and quality control personnel, to ensure a smooth and efficient melting process.
Preventative Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on the melting equipment and reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the maintenance department.

Experience: Minimum 3 – 6 years’ experience in similar role in foundry industries
