Black & Grey HR is seeking an Eventer (Survey Vessel) to join the client's offshore project delivery team on a permanent rotational basis. You will be deployed onboard survey vessels to operate the vessel event/shot system during hydrographic and geophysical survey data acquisition activities, ensuring accurate event triggering, reliable data recording, and effective support to the survey team throughout offshore operations.

This is a permanent position — not a contract — with rotational offshore deployment onboard survey vessels. You will work closely with the Survey Party Chief and survey team to maintain event system performance, monitor acquisition quality, and support safe and efficient survey data collection during project campaigns.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Offshore Survey Operations

- Operate the vessel event control system, triggering and logging survey events (fixes/shots) in accordance with approved survey programmes and acquisition requirements

- Monitor event data quality in real time, identifying gaps, anomalies, or equipment issues and reporting findings to the Survey Party Chief

- Maintain accurate event logs including time, position, acquisition line details, and quality records

- Coordinate with the Survey Party Chief and survey team to ensure event system settings are correctly configured for each survey line

- Support sensor interface checks between event systems, positioning systems (GNSS/USBL), and survey acquisition software

- Participate in daily toolbox talks, vessel safety meetings, and offshore operational activities in accordance with vessel procedures

2. Data Acquisition & Equipment Support

- Assist with setup, calibration checks, and daily function testing of survey acquisition systems

- Support survey equipment readiness and ensure event systems are operating correctly during data acquisition

- Assist with data backup procedures and maintain proper records for survey data management

- Support the data processing team by responding to event log queries and providing acquisition information when required

- Report equipment faults, data inconsistencies, and technical issues to the Survey Party Chief for resolution

3. Reporting & Offshore Coordination

- Maintain detailed event records and ensure accurate watch handover information between survey personnel

- Support continuity of survey operations by providing clear status updates and operational feedback

- Coordinate with survey engineers and vessel personnel to ensure smooth execution of survey activities

- Comply with vessel safety requirements, watchkeeping standards, offshore PPE requirements, and company HSE procedures

- Contribute to maintaining high-quality survey data acquisition standards throughout project operations


RequirementsEducation

- Diploma or degree in Hydrographic Survey, Marine Technology, Geomatics, Survey Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognised institution

- Equivalent technical qualifications with relevant offshore survey experience will be considered

Experience

- 2–5 years of experience in hydrographic survey operations with practical event system operating experience

- Hands-on experience operating vessel event/shot systems during offshore survey data acquisition activities

- Practical knowledge of survey acquisition software such as Hypack, Eiva NaviSuite, QPS QINSY, or equivalent platforms

- Experience working with survey positioning and acquisition systems including GNSS, USBL, and marine sensors

- Experience onboard survey vessels supporting hydrographic or geophysical survey campaigns

- ADNOC project exposure or experience working on ADNOC-approved offshore operations is a strong advantage

Skills and Competencies

- Good understanding of hydrographic survey data acquisition workflows and offshore survey operations

- Ability to monitor data quality and identify operational issues during live acquisition activities

- Strong attention to detail with accurate record-keeping and event log management skills

- Ability to work effectively as part of a vessel-based multidisciplinary survey team

- Understanding of offshore safety requirements, vessel procedures, and watchkeeping practices

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED (Please attach the below certificates)

- BOSIET or HUET — must be valid and current. Candidates with an expired BOSIET/HUET will not be shortlisted. Please attach a copy of your certificate with your application.

- ADNOC Facility Access Approval — held or a clearly documented ability to obtain. Candidates who have previously held - ADNOC access or worked on ADNOC-approved projects are at a significant advantage.

- IHO/FIG Category B Certification — advantageous

- Manufacturer-specific survey system training — beneficial

- Offshore survival and first aid certifications — must be current
