Roles & Responsibilities
The DWDM & SDH Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of optical transmission networks, including DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) and SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) systems. The role ensures high network availability, performance, and reliability.
Required Skills & Knowledge
Strong understanding of:
DWDM technology (MUX/DEMUX, OTN, ROADM basics)
SDH hierarchy (STM-1, STM-4, STM-16, etc.)
Experience with optical tools (OTDR, power meter, fusion splicer)
Knowledge of alarm monitoring systems and NMS/EMS tools
Basic understanding of IP networking is a plus
Ability to read fiber diagrams and network schematics
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or related field
Relevant certifications (preferred but not mandatory):
Optical Networking / Transmission certifications
Vendor-specific (Huawei, Nokia, Cisco, etc.
