Roles & Responsibilities

IT Purchaser / Procurement Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially driven IT Purchaser / Procurement Specialist to manage the procurement of technology products and services while ensuring cost optimization, quality, compliance, and business value. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between technical teams and suppliers by combining strong IT knowledge with procurement expertise and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement lifecycle for IT products and services.

  • Lead sourcing activities, including RFQs, RFPs, and vendor evaluations.

  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, service-level agreements (SLAs), and commercial terms.

  • Ensure timely procurement of hardware, software, cloud services, and IT infrastructure.

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers and technology partners.

Technical Evaluation

  • Review and analyze technical specifications and business requirements.

  • Assess vendor proposals and recommend the most suitable solutions based on functionality, cost, risk, and scalability.

  • Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to support purchasing decisions.

  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, market trends, and industry best practices.

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Conduct cost analysis, budget monitoring, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) assessments.

  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and procurement planning activities.

  • Evaluate ROI and commercial viability of technology investments.

  • Monitor supplier performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepare procurement dashboards, spend analysis reports, and vendor performance metrics.

  • Utilize advanced Excel tools to analyze procurement data and support strategic decision-making.

  • Ensure procurement records, contracts, and documentation are accurately maintained.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and audit requirements.

  • Support risk assessment activities related to suppliers, contracts, and procurement processes.

  • Maintain procurement integrity and transparency throughout the sourcing process.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in IT Procurement, Technology Sourcing, or Purchasing.

  • Experience managing procurement activities for hardware, software, cloud services, and IT infrastructure.

  • Strong vendor negotiation and contract management experience.

Technical Knowledge

The ideal candidate should have a sound understanding of:

  • Computer hardware and infrastructure solutions.

  • Cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).

  • Software licensing and SaaS subscription models.

  • Cybersecurity technologies and solutions.

  • Networking technologies, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems.

  • Data center and enterprise infrastructure environments.

  • Emerging technologies such as AI, automation, and cloud-native platforms.

Advanced Excel & Analytical Skills

Strong proficiency in:

  • Pivot Tables

  • XLOOKUP / VLOOKUP

  • INDEX-MATCH

  • Power Query

  • Conditional Formatting

  • Data Validation

  • Budget Tracking & Forecasting

  • Spend Analysis

  • Procurement Dashboards & Reporting

Knowledge of VBA/Macros is an added advantage.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT procurement, with a proven track record of managing complex technology acquisitions.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software licensing models (e.g., perpetual, subscription, SaaS), cloud computing (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), and cybersecurity principles.
  • Expertise in contract negotiation, vendor management, and strategic sourcing within the technology sector.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa) and a solid grasp of IT project management methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical requirements and financial data.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing decisions across technical and business teams.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified IT Procurement Manager (CITPM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or similar are highly advantageous.
  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in other languages may be a plus depending on global vendor interactions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic IT environment, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach to challenges.
