Lead and supervise electrical engineering and site execution activities for power projects and substations.
Review electrical designs, single-line diagrams, schematics, equipment layouts, cable schedules, specifications, and technical documents.
Coordinate electrical engineering activities with civil, structural, mechanical, MEP, protection, control, SCADA, and other disciplines.
Supervise installation of transformers, switchgear, GIS/AIS equipment, circuit breakers, CTs, PTs/CVTs, isolators, busbars, protection panels, control panels, and auxiliary systems.
Ensure electrical installations are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project requirements.
Review and coordinate electrical shop drawings, material submittals, technical submissions, and vendor documentation.
Coordinate with procurement and stores teams to ensure timely availability of approved electrical equipment and materials.
Monitor site progress and ensure electrical activities are completed in line with approved project schedules and milestones.
Prepare and review work plans, look-ahead schedules, manpower requirements, and resource plans for electrical activities.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, consultants, clients, and site teams to resolve technical and construction issues.
Review RFIs, technical queries, site instructions, design changes, and engineering deviations and provide appropriate technical solutions.
Supervise cable installation, cable tray/trench works, termination, jointing, testing, and identification activities.
Ensure proper installation of earthing and lightning protection systems, including earth grids, equipment earthing, and associated connections.
Coordinate installation of AC/DC auxiliary systems, battery chargers, batteries, UPS systems, lighting, small power, and other station services.
Coordinate protection and control, metering, automation, communication, and SCADA interfaces with relevant engineering teams.
Support testing and commissioning activities, including pre-commissioning inspections, insulation resistance testing, continuity checks, relay testing, functional testing, and equipment commissioning.
Coordinate with testing and commissioning teams for energization and successful handover of electrical systems.
Ensure electrical works comply with applicable IEC standards, UAE regulations, utility requirements, project specifications, and client standards.
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor quality, progress, installation practices, and compliance with approved requirements.
Coordinate inspections with QA/QC teams and ensure timely closure of inspection requests, punch points, and non-conformance reports.
Monitor electrical material consumption, productivity, manpower, and equipment utilization.
Assist in reviewing quantities, variations, additional works, and material requirements for electrical activities.
Identify technical, construction, procurement, and interface risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
Ensure compliance with project HSE procedures, risk assessments, permit-to-work systems, and electrical safety requirements.
Participate in technical meetings, coordination meetings, progress reviews, and client/consultant discussions.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and provide technical updates to project management.
Maintain proper engineering and construction documentation, including test reports, inspection records, approved drawings, and as-built documentation.
Support snagging, rectification, testing, commissioning, energization, and final project handover.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior electrical engineers, supervisors, and site personnel.
Support continuous improvement, productivity enhancement, cost optimization, and efficient project execution.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Typically 7–10 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, construction, or project execution, preferably within power, substations, transmission, distribution, or EPC projects.
Strong experience in electrical systems for HV/EHV substations and power infrastructure.
Good knowledge of transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, circuit breakers, CTs, PTs/CVTs, isolators, busbars, protection and control systems, and auxiliary systems.
Experience in electrical installation, testing, commissioning, energization, and project handover.
Strong ability to read and interpret SLDs, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, equipment layouts, and technical specifications.
Knowledge of electrical protection, control, metering, SCADA, communication, and automation systems is preferred.
Good understanding of earthing, lightning protection, cable systems, station services, and electrical safety.
Knowledge of IEC standards, UAE regulations, utility requirements, and applicable electrical codes.
Experience coordinating with clients, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Good understanding of QA/QC procedures, ITPs, inspection requirements, and technical documentation.
Experience with project planning, scheduling, resource management, and construction coordination.
Proficiency in MS Office and relevant electrical engineering/project management software.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple activities within project deadlines.
