We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Head of English to lead our English Department and play a key role in driving teaching quality, curriculum development, teacher development, and student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the English Department and its improvement plan

• Drive curriculum planning, progression, assessment, and literacy development

• Monitor teaching and learning through observations, learning walks, and work scrutiny

• Use assessment data to improve student progress and attainment

• Coach, mentor, and develop English teachers

• Promote high expectations, inclusion, and evidence-informed teaching

• Lead whole-school literacy initiatives and contribute to wider school improvement

• Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team, teachers, students, and parents

Desired Candidate Profile

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, English Literature, or related field

• Recognized teaching qualification and valid teaching license

• UK QTS or equivalent highly desirable

• 6+ years of successful teaching experience

• Proven experience leading an English department or significant subject area

• Strong curriculum, assessment, data analysis, and teacher-development experience

• International or UAE school experience preferred

• Ability to meet relevant KHDA/UAE requirements
