Job DescriptionResponsible for assisting in establishing, maintaining and recording the functional integrity of all anesthesia equipment including, in all anesthisia locationsResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities of the role Corresponding Key Activities performed by the roleManagerialAssisting in establishing, maintaining and recording the functional integrity of all anesthesia equipment including, but not limited to routine daily, weekly and monthly checks as well as routine inspection by biomedical engineer and maintenance for these items such as Anesthesia machines, Infusion pumps and Airway equipment .Being involved in the daily management of workload allocation within the specialist area, taking into account the changing/competing demands and making decisions about prioritization of caseloadsCoordinating sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of dutiesReporting shortage of materials to supervisor at earliest convenience, ordering and approving replenishments when necessaryAssisting in assessing and ordering appropriate materials/equipment following discussion with senior staffTechnicalAssisting in preparing and re - preparing the anesthesia environment which includes all anesthesia equipment and material, on a daily basis for any anesthesia proceduresProviding assistance to the anesthisiologist as required with difficult airway management and invasive monitoringUnder the direct supervision and prescription of the anesthesiologist, preparing and administering anesthesia medicationCoordinating other appropriate tasks and duties, when requested by the supervisorAssisting the anesthesiologist in the induction and maintenance, including monitoring of the patient and regional anesthesiaQuality & SafetyPromoting and maintaining quality in all services and ensure continuous quality improvement measures are in place. Conduct method evaluation/development as per standard policies and proceduresEnsuring compliance with all safety and quality control programs and procedures as applicableEnsuring compliance with applicable precautions for environmental safety, infection control, using a series of interventions that minimize or prevent cross infectionMaintaining and assisting in enforcing the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recordedComplying and ensuring that those directly supervised comply with occupational health and safety at work policies and proceduresPracticing within the expressed limits of established policies and proceduresEnsuring that SOP (standard operation procedures) and Quality Assurance tests are maintained within all sectionsBeing responsible for documenting all intervention in appropriate formatAssisting in the development of clinical audit processes within the service and report on these as agreed. Supporting the promotion of audit and research programs on service implementation, in line with national policy, statutory requirements and service requirements within the facilityCommunicating in a professional and courteous manner with patients, family and other medical personnel as necessary to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, clarify orders and communicate statusEducationParticipating in department programs/committees, various hospital committees, and staff meetingsEnsuring appropriate internal and external sharing of information based on governing policies and proceduresMaintaining professional knowledge by attending lectures, seminars or on-line education unitsCompleting and maintaining all regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time framesRequired QUALIFICATIONS Bsc in Anesthesia Registered Nurse with specialized training in anesthesiatechniques and equipment . Registered Respiratory technician with specialized training inanesthetic techniques and equipment.AND Current National License.
