Job Purpose

Join our Group Safety team, where you will play a key role in upholding Emirates’ commitment to a safe, compliant, and resilient working environment across our global operations. Safety is a core value of the Emirates Group, and as our workforce continues to grow across diverse operational environments, maintaining the highest standards of workplace health and safety is essential to supporting our people and protecting our operations.

As a Workplace Health & Safety Specialist, you will support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Workplace Health & Safety Management System (WHS‑MS) in alignment with ISO 45001 and the Emirates Safety Management System (SMS). You will provide independent oversight, identify and assess risks, and drive practical, risk‑based safety improvements that help prevent injuries, incidents, and damage to our assets, and operations.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure compliance with UAE Federal and local Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) legislation by conducting workplace inspections, hazard identification activities, and risk assessments, and verifying closure of corrective actions.
  • Support managers and supervisors by providing technical and practical WHS guidance to embed safe work practices and reduce work‑related injuries and lost‑time incidents.
  • Implement and maintain hazard identification and risk management processes, advising departments on risk controls and WHS requirements to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Manage workplace incident and accident reporting and investigation activities—identify causal factors, recommend corrective actions, and help prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor WHS performance indicators and trends, track agreed actions, and support improvements to safety awareness and compliance with Group safety standards.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by delivering WHS training, coaching employees on safe work practices, and coordinating with regulators, contractors, and service providers to ensure compliance.

Qualification

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • A completed bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
  • A recognised Health & Safety qualification such as the NEBOSH International General Certificate, Diploma in Health & Safety Management, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Medical/Safety, Ground Safety or Workplace/Occupational Health & Safety within a large, complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience conducting workplace inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Experience supporting WHS audits, tracking corrective actions, and monitoring WHS performance metrics.
  • Working knowledge of UAE OHS legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • A general understanding of ISO 45001 and WHS Management System principles.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and WHS reporting or safety data management systems.

You will have an edge if you have:

  • A membership with a recognised professional safety body such as IOSH (desirable).
  • Experience working in aviation, airport operations, engineering, logistics, manufacturing, or similarly operational environments.

At Emirates, we’re committed to helping our people grow and thrive. If you're ready for a rewarding and challenging career, apply today and become part of our world-class team.
