Job Details

We are working with a Dubai‑based single family office to appoint an Associate into its investment team. The position is aimed at a investment professional with strong hedge fund and risk‑management exposure, alongside robust analytical training.
Firm and mandate
Private family office in Dubai overseeing a diversified global portfolio with a meaningful allocation to hedge funds and alternative strategies. Investment philosophy centred on capital preservation, steady compounding, and disciplined risk control. Compact, entrepreneurial set‑up with direct day‑to‑day interaction with the Chief Investment Officer and principals.
Role overview
Associate‑level role supporting the CIO across portfolio risk, hedge fund manager selection, and ongoing monitoring. Combination of top‑down portfolio work (asset allocation, risk budgeting) and bottom‑up manager analysis, with a strong emphasis on hedge fund strategies. Opportunity to help further institutionalise investment and risk processes in a growing family office environment.
Key responsibilities
Assist in shaping and implementing the overall portfolio and risk framework, including analysis of volatility, drawdowns, liquidity and correlation across hedge funds and other asset classes. Perform in‑depth quantitative and qualitative assessments of hedge fund and alternative managers, covering performance drivers, risk factors, style drift, and downside protection. Build and maintain tools and dashboards to track portfolio‑level risk, factor exposures, scenario and stress tests, and concentration metrics, highlighting issues to the CIO on a timely basis. Produce clear, concise investment and risk reports for internal discussions with the CIO and family members, summarising key findings and recommendations. Support due diligence on new hedge fund allocations and periodic reviews of existing managers, including meetings, reference work and documentation. Contribute to broader portfolio projects such as rebalancing, hedging considerations, new strategy evaluation and optimisation of the overall risk/return profile.
Candidate profile
Approximately 2–5 years of experience in a hedge fund, fund‑of‑funds, multi‑asset or alternatives platform, asset manager, or similar institutional investor with strong exposure to risk and manager analysis. Track record of working with hedge fund products (e.g., long/short equity, credit, macro, relative value or multi‑strategy) and understanding of typical fee, liquidity and governance structures. Strong analytical and technical foundation, including financial modelling, portfolio analytics and comfort working with data‑heavy tasks. Excellent academic background in finance, economics, accounting or a related quantitative field. International experience or exposure to multiple markets is highly regarded.
Skills and personal attributes
High proficiency in Excel and presentation tools; experience with portfolio or risk systems is advantageous. Structured, detail‑oriented and numerate, able to turn complex data and analysis into clear, actionable insights. Confident communicator, comfortable interacting with senior investment professionals and external managers. Discreet and trustworthy, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability appropriate for a family office setting. Proactive, collaborative and adaptable, willing to be hands‑on across a broad set of responsibilities in a lean team.
