Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify potential hazards, analyze risks, and implement control measures.
  • Compliance & Policy: Develop, review, and enforce company safety policies, ensuring compliance with local/international legislation.
  • Inspections & Audits: Regularly inspect premises, machinery, and equipment to identify non-conformity.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents or near-misses, determine root causes, and prepare reports for management.
  • Training & Education: Organize and conduct safety training sessions, orientations, and emergency drills.
  • Emergency Response: Lead, or take a key role in, emergency procedures and protocols.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, and incidents.

Skills

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role.
  • Deep knowledge of legislation, regulations, and safety guidelines (e.g., OSHA, ISO).
  • Proficiency in risk assessment and hazard identification techniques.
  • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA 30) is often required.
