Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Vessel Chartering Specialist responsible for securing vessels directly from shipowners. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial acumen, an established network of vessel owners, and proven experience in negotiating and concluding charter parties (voyage and/or time charter).

This role requires hands-on market analysis, direct negotiation, and full coordination of the chartering process from pre-fixture to post-fixture.

Job Description:

The Vessel Chartering Specialist is responsible for directly engaging with vessel owners to identify and secure chartering agreements. This role requires a deep understanding of the marine industry, relevant regulations, and the chartering process. The candidate should be capable of building strong relationships with owners and managing all aspects of the chartering process from initiation to completion

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage and build relationships with vessel owners for direct chartering.
  • Conduct market research to identify available vessels and pricing.
  • Prepare, checking and negotiate charter parties based on required shipping terms.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards in all chartering agreements.
  • Manage the preparation and auditing of necessary documents for chartering.
  • Provide reports to management on market trends, costs, and charter performance.
  • Checking the Laytime Calculations at loading and discharging ports and to negotiate and confirm the same with shipowners.
  • Ensuring all related documents needed for the basis of the Laytime calculations are ready and signed on time.
  • Follow up with shipowners for all outstanding issues and payments.
  • Checking vessel documents and making sure of documents validity and compliance.
  • Verifying the details of vessels shipowners, managers, and operators through 3rd parties data base to confirm the details are updated and in compliance with the shipping requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in vessel chartering.
  • Strong knowledge of Charter Party agreements and freight negotiation.
  • In-depth knowledge of maritime regulations and the shipping industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in fixing vessels without brokers.
  • Established network of shipowners is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of dry bulk, tanker, or container markets
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and shipping/chartering platforms (e.g., IMOS or similar systems).
  • Strong knowledge of Incoterms, International shipping regulations such as ISPS and IACS.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to speak Russian will be an added advantage.
