A Sports Massage Therapist specializes in providing therapeutic massage treatments designed to improve athletic performance, prevent injuries, and support recovery. The therapist works with athletes, active individuals, and clients with muscle tension or sports-related injuries to enhance mobility, reduce pain, and promote overall physical well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform sports massage therapy treatments tailored to athletes and physically active clients.
- Assess clients’ muscle condition, joint mobility, and areas of tension or injury.
- Develop personalized treatment and recovery plans based on client needs and physical activity levels.
- Use techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, stretching, and myofascial release.
- Assist clients in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and muscle recovery.
- Maintain accurate client records, treatment notes, and progress reports.
- Educate clients on stretching, recovery methods, and injury prevention strategies.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and professional therapy environment.
- Work closely with physiotherapists, trainers, or coaches when necessary.
- Follow all health, safety, and professional standards.
Experience
- 1–3 years experience in sports massage, physiotherapy clinic, gym, or wellness center preferred.
- Experience working with athletes or sports teams is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Work in our wellness centre, located in Abu Dhabi.
- May require flexible hours, including evenings or weekends.
- Physical work requiring standing and manual strength for extended periods.
Skills
Qualifications
- Certification or diploma in Massage Therapy or Sports Massage Therapy.
- Valid license to practice (depending on local regulations).
- Knowledge of sports injuries, anatomy, and muscle recovery techniques.
- Additional training in deep tissue or sports rehabilitation is an advantage.
