Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Active Supervision: Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area, ensuring students are monitored at all times during swimming lessons and extracurricular activities.
- Safety Enforcement: Enforce all pool safety rules and school policies to prevent accidents and maintain a safe, orderly environment.
- Emergency Response: Serve as the first responder in the event of an accident or medical emergency; perform water rescues and provide First Aid/CPR/AED as required.
- Facility Maintenance: Perform daily checks of water quality (pH/chlorine levels), water clarity, and general pool hygiene; report any equipment defects or safety hazards to the Facility Manager immediately.
- Support: Assist the swimming coaches and PE staff with the setup and dismantling of equipment for lessons and events.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate incident reports, rescue logs, and water quality testing logs in accordance with school and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Professional Certification: Current, internationally recognized Lifeguard certification (e.g., RLSS, Highfield, or equivalent).
- Medical/Safety: Valid First Aid and CPR/AED certification (must be valid within the UAE).
- Experience: Previous experience working as a lifeguard, preferably in a school or high-traffic commercial pool environment.
- Competency: Strong swimming ability and physical fitness to perform rescue duties under pressure.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) or equivalent health and safety guidelines for school swimming pools.
- Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and authoritatively with students and staff regarding safety protocols.
