Technical Product Manager, Geospatial API Platform We are a technology company building advanced software systems for enterprise use cases. Our work focuses on data-heavy platforms, machine learning applications, and real-time decisioning systems that support complex operational workflows at scale.
We are now building a new software product related to geospatial APIs, location intelligence, and data-heavy backend systems. The product will require strong technical execution, clear product thinking, and close collaboration between engineering, leadership, and future users.
The role You will help turn a technical concept into a structured software product.
You will work closely with the CTO, engineering team, and business stakeholders to define requirements, shape the MVP, organize priorities, and support delivery of a geospatial API platform.
This is a mid-level Technical Product Manager role. You do not need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable working with technical teams, APIs, databases, and backend systems. You should be able to understand technical tradeoffs, write clear product requirements, and keep product delivery organized.
This is a hands-on role in a small technical team. The playbook is not fully written yet, so you will help build the product process as the platform develops.
What you will do in the first 6 months Work with the CTO and engineering team to define the product scope, MVP, and first delivery milestones. Translate business and technical goals into clear product requirements. Write user stories, acceptance criteria, product briefs, and technical product documentation. Help define the first use cases for the geospatial API platform. Support roadmap planning and prioritization across engineering and leadership. Coordinate with engineers to track delivery progress, clarify requirements, and unblock decisions. Research relevant users, market needs, competitors, and geospatial product patterns. Help define product flows, API behavior, edge cases, and expected user outcomes. Prepare internal updates, demos, and product summaries for stakeholders. Build a lightweight product process that supports fast execution without slowing down engineering.
What you bring3–6 years of experience in product management, technical product management, product ownership, business analysis, or a similar software product role. Experience working on technical software products, ideally APIs, platforms, data tools, B2B Saa S, backend systems, or developer-facing products. Strong ability to write clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and product documentation. Comfortable working closely with engineers and discussing technical tradeoffs. Basic understanding of APIs, databases, backend systems, and software delivery. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to manage priorities, follow up on open items, and keep product delivery organized. Comfortable working in a small team where structure is still being built.
Preferred experience Exposure to geospatial products, GIS, maps, routing, logistics, mobility, real estate tech, or location-based platforms. Familiarity with tools or concepts such as Post GIS, Mapbox, Google Maps Platform, Arc GIS, QGIS, Open Street Map, geocoding, routing, coordinates, or spatial data. Experience with data-heavy products, analytics platforms, AI products, or infrastructure tools. Experience working in startups or early-stage product environments. Experience using Jira, Linear, Notion, Confluence, Figma, Postman, or similar tools.
What this is not This is not an Engineering Lead role. This is not a role focused on writing production Python code. This is not a role responsible for backend architecture or Postgre SQL optimization. This is not a Head of Product role with a large team and mature product function already in place. This is not a pure project coordination role with no product ownership. This is not a role for someone who needs every requirement handed to them fully formed.
Why join Technical product from the ground up: Help shape a geospatial API platform from its early stages. High-caliber engineering environment: Work directly with a technical team building complex backend and data systems. Real ownership: Define requirements, structure the roadmap, and help create the product process. Applied AI and data expertise: Join a company with experience deploying high-volume decision systems for enterprise clients. Growth path: As the product develops, the role can grow into broader product ownership across platform, data, or AI-driven products.
