Job description

Role Overview

The Pre-Sales Systems Engineer is the technical bridge between our vendors and the sales team. Your primary responsibility is to design and validate high-performance industrial computing solutions—including fanless embedded boxes, panel PCs, and rack-mount systems. You will ensure that every configured system is technically sound, thermally viable, and optimized for the customer’s specific industrial environment before providing the final technical build and costings to the sales team.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Configuration: Design complex industrial PC builds based on customer requirements, selecting the appropriate chassis, motherboards, and internal components.
  • Component Selection: Specify and validate internal hardware including CPUs, specialized cooling/fans, industrial-grade RAM, storage (SSD/HDD), and GPU acceleration cards.
  • Technical Validation: Ensure all configurations are compatible, meet power budget requirements, and are suitable for the target operating temperatures and vibration environments.
  • Vendor Coordination: Liaise directly with international hardware and component manufacturers to obtain technical support, verify product roadmaps, and secure project-based pricing.
  • Internal Support: Act as the "technical architect" for the sales team by providing completed system builds and cost breakdowns for formal quotations.
  • Quality Oversight: Occasionally perform physical builds or bench testing of prototype systems to ensure the configuration meets the promised performance benchmarks.

Skills

Requirements & Qualifications

  • PC Build Expertise: Advanced, hands-on experience in building and troubleshooting PC hardware. You must have a deep understanding of modern computer architecture (sockets, chipsets, bus speeds, etc.).
  • Industrial Hardware Knowledge: Familiarity with the unique constraints of industrial computing, such as fanless thermal management, long-term product lifecycles, and ruggedized storage.
  • Technical Communication: Ability to translate complex customer needs into a formal Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail to ensure zero-error configurations in a high-stakes bidding environment.
  • Commercial Awareness: Comfortable negotiating with vendors to ensure the company remains competitive on price while maintaining high technical standards.
