Job description
Planning Engineer (Roads & Drainage)
We are seeking a highly skilled Planning Engineer to lead the scheduling and project controls for our upcoming infrastructure portfolio. This role is designed for a technical expert who thrives on taking full ownership of project timelines, specifically within the realm of large-scale road networks and drainage systems.
The ideal candidate isn't just a scheduler—they are a strategist who can translate complex site data into actionable insights, ensuring projects stay on track from breaking ground to final paving.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Lifecycle Management: Develop, maintain, and baseline comprehensive project schedules for road and drainage works from the ground up.
* Progress Tracking: Perform rigorous "Actual vs. Planned" analysis to identify deviations early and propose mitigation strategies.
* Resource Management: Manage and forecast resource requirements, with a heavy emphasis on man-hour calculations and productivity rates.
* Variance Analysis: Calculate and interpret schedule and cost variances to provide clear reporting to senior management.
* Coordination: Work closely with Site Engineers and Project Managers to ensure the look-ahead schedules are realistic and aligned with field conditions.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required).
* Experience: Proven track record in the infrastructure sector, specifically in roads, highways, and stormwater/sewerage drainage systems.
* Autonomy: You must be capable of establishing a project’s planning framework "on your own" with minimal supervision.
* Technical Skills: proficiency in Primavera P6 or MS Project.
* Strong command of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
* Advanced Excel skills for data manipulation and man-hour distribution curves.
* Ability to handle claims/EOTs
Critical Competencies
Analytical Rigor: You must be comfortable calculating precise variances. We are looking for someone who doesn't just see a delay but can quantify it through man-hour impact and critical path analysis.
How to Apply: Please submit your CV and a brief project list highlighting your specific experience in roads and drainage.
