Roles & Responsibilities
We, at Emarat Aloula is seeking a skilled and experienced Instrumentation (PLC/SCADA) Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of instrumentation and automation systems for our Wastewater Treatment Plant (Odour Control Project).
The ideal candidate should possess strong hands-on experience in PLC, SCADA, industrial networks, instrumentation calibration, and maintenance, particularly within wastewater treatment or sewage treatment plant (STP) applications.
Key Responsibilities
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of field instrumentation systems
Handle calibration and maintenance of STP instruments including:
o Dissolved Oxygen (DO) analyzers
o pH analyzers
o Flow transmitters
o Level transmitters
o Pressure transmitters
Support operation and maintenance of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems
Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain SIEMENS S7-1500 PLC systems
Work extensively with SIEMENS TIA Portal Software and Comfort Panel HMIs
Support and maintain industrial communication networks and protocols including:
o PROFIBUS
o DEVICE-NET
o Modbus TCP/IP
o Modbus RTU
Perform basic configuration and troubleshooting of industrial network switches, including SIEMENS SCALANCE switches
Configure IP settings and replace faulty switches when required
Support operation and maintenance of VFD motors and related systems
Assist in SCADA monitoring, diagnostics, and system optimization
Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities for instrumentation and automation systems
Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure system reliability and minimal downtime
Maintain proper documentation, reports, and maintenance records
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related discipline
Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in instrumentation, PLC, and SCADA systems
Proven experience in wastewater treatment / STP applications
Strong hands-on experience in instrument calibration and maintenance
Mandatory experience with:
o SIEMENS S7-1500 PLC
o SIEMENS TIA Portal Software
o Comfort Panel HMIs
Skills & Competencies
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Good understanding of industrial automation and instrumentation systems
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and networking basics
Ability to interpret technical drawings, control schematics, and P&IDs
Good communication and coordination skills
Ability to work independently and under pressure in plant environments
Preferred Attributes
Experience in odour control, STP, or utility infrastructure projects
Familiarity with UAE utility or infrastructure projects is an advantage
Immediate or short notice availability
