Roles & Responsibilities

• Safely operate a tractor-trailer combination to transport goods across specified routes, ensuring timely delivery.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, identifying any mechanical issues and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate logs of working hours, cargo, and distances traveled, adhering to federal and state regulations regarding hours of service.
• Load and unload cargo securely, utilizing proper techniques to prevent damage and ensure safety during transit.
• Communicate with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules, route changes, and any potential delays.
• Adhere to traffic laws and regulations, demonstrating defensive driving practices to ensure the safety of all road users.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle, both inside and out, to uphold company standards.
• Handle emergency situations effectively, including vehicle breakdowns and accidents, following established protocols.
• Utilize GPS and navigation systems to plan routes efficiently, optimizing fuel consumption and travel time.
• Participate in ongoing training and safety meetings to stay updated on industry regulations and best practices.

Desired Candidate Profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in commercial driving preferred.
• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record; endorsements for hazardous materials or doubles/triples are advantageous.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in long-haul trucking or trailer driving, showcasing reliability and professionalism.
• Proven ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
• Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with dispatchers, clients, and other drivers.
• Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and compliance with hours of service regulations.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy loads, with a commitment to safety in all operations.
• Proficient in using GPS and mapping software for efficient route planning.
• Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in challenging situations, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
