Roles & Responsibilities

Role Overview:

The Cost Control Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, controlling, and forecasting mechanical discipline project costs, ensuring alignment with project budget, scope, and schedule. The role requires strong expertise in LNG, EPC, oil & gas mega-project cost management, with direct exposure to ADNOC project standards and reporting methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Management & Reporting

  • Develop, maintain, and update the Mechanical discipline cost control system based on the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).

  • Monitor actual and forecasted costs against approved budgets and ensure variances are analyzed.

  • Prepare monthly cost reports in alignment with ADNOC and Technip reporting formats.

  • Track commitments, expenditures, forecasts, and invoicing progress for mechanical packages.

Forecasting & Budget Control

  • Review and validate mechanical material requisitions, procurement awards, variation orders, and subcontractor invoices for cost compliance.

  • Identify cost overruns, trends, and potential deviations, and provide early warnings to project management.

  • Support project management in cost-to-complete and cash flow projections.

Change & Claims Management

  • Evaluate Mechanical scope changes, Variation Orders (VOs), and additional works.

  • Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Contracts teams to assess cost impacts.

  • Maintain accurate register of approved and pending changes for cost tracking.

Cost Systems & Tools

  • Utilize ERP systems, cost control applications, SAP/PRISM/Oracle, or equivalent tools for cost tracking.

  • Ensure alignment with Technip's cost control procedures and ADNOC cost governance requirements.

Interface & Coordination

  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Planning, and Contracts for updated cost data.

  • Participate in cost review meetings with ADNOC, Management, and Project Controls teams.

Required Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and financial interpretation skills.

  • Solid understanding of project planning, scheduling, and progress measurement systems.

  • Excellent command over mechanical construction scope in LNG or major oil & gas EPC projects.

  • Capable of working under pressure and tight reporting deadlines.

  • Strong communication and technical reporting skills.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

  • PMP, CCP (AACE), or relevant certification is an added advantage.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in Cost Control roles within Oil & Gas / LNG / EPC megaprojects.

  • Minimum 5 years experience with ADNOC projects preferred.

  • Previous experience working with Technip Energies or similar Tier-1 EPCs is highly desirable.
