About the Company Our client is a fast-growing financial technology business operating in a transaction-heavy, regulated environment. The business has moved quickly from early-stage build into scale-up mode and now requires stronger finance infrastructure, tighter controls and cleaner reporting discipline. This is a commercially ambitious, execution-led environment with senior leadership that values ownership, accuracy, speed and practical problem-solving. The company is looking for someone who can strengthen the finance function from the inside: not just maintain the books, but improve the way the numbers are produced, reconciled, controlled and reported.
Role Overview The Financial Controller will own the core accounting and controllership function across a multi-entity and multi-jurisdiction environment. This is a hands-on role responsible for the integrity of the underlying numbers: books, journal entries, reconciliations, close process, controls, tax compliance and month-end reporting. The successful candidate will work directly with senior finance leadership, taking ownership of the operational finance engine so leadership can rely on accurate, timely and well-controlled financial information. This role is best suited to an A-player who enjoys detail, structure and ownership, and who is comfortable improving a finance function that is still being formalised as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities Own day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities and jurisdictions. Manage bookkeeping oversight, journal entries, general ledger integrity and operating expense accounting. Lead bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, transaction reconciliations and multi-currency accounting workflows. Build and run a disciplined month-end close process, including close checklists, supporting schedules and reporting packs. Ensure financial data is accurate, complete, timely and properly supported. Strengthen controls around approvals, documentation, reconciliations, reporting cadence and audit readiness. Support external audit, statutory reporting, tax/VAT compliance and regulated entity reporting requirements. Partner with finance leadership, operations, compliance and senior management to ensure finance outputs properly reflect business activity. Improve data quality, tagging, reporting visibility and the flow of finance information into management reporting. Identify opportunities to automate manual accounting, reconciliation and reporting processes. Help build, mentor and formalise the finance/accounting team as the organisation grows.
Operating Environment High-volume transactional business with multiple reconciliation points. Multi-currency activity across several bank accounts, entities and jurisdictions. Finance function moving from founder-led/start-up processes into more formalised scale-up controls. Some clean-up, process tightening and documentation improvement required. Strong appetite for automation, better systems usage and AI-enabled finance workflows.
Ideal Candidate Profile Approximately 8-15 years of experience across accounting, controllership, finance operations or audit-to-industry finance roles. Strong preference for candidates from payments, fintech, financial services, marketplace, remittance, banking, lending, FX, brokerage, trading, Saa S or other high-volume transaction environments. Deep experience with reconciliations, month-end close, journal entries, GL ownership, controls and financial reporting. Hands-on operating finance experience is essential; this is not a purely review-based, advisory or strategic finance role. Strong understanding of IFRS and accounting standards; ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent qualification preferred. Experience across multi-currency, multi-entity and regulated environments is highly advantageous. Naturally precise, structured and control-focused, with a genuine desire to get the books right down to the detail. Comfortable in a high-growth environment where processes are still being built and improved. Curious about automation, AI and modern finance workflows, with the mindset to make accounting faster, cleaner and more scalable.
What Success Looks Like A tighter, cleaner and more reliable month-end close process. Clear ownership of underlying numbers across entities, accounts, reconciliations and reporting. Improved finance controls, documentation and audit readiness. Better visibility across revenue flows, expenses, cash movement and operating financials. A scalable accounting function that can support the next stage of company growth. Practical automation of manual finance tasks without compromising accuracy or control.
Compensation & Opportunity Indicative salary range: AED 35,000 per month, depending on experience and fit. Direct exposure to senior finance leadership in a high-growth financial technology business. Opportunity to build and own a core finance function rather than inherit a mature corporate machine.
Application Note This role is best suited to candidates who are hands-on, precise, resilient and excited by the opportunity to build finance infrastructure in a growing, transaction-heavy business. Candidates looking purely for a strategic CFO-track role in the first 6-12 months may not be the right fit. The immediate priority is accounting ownership, clean-up, control, process discipline and execution.
