Roles & Responsibilities
The Civil Design Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, analysis, and coordination of civil works for infrastructure and industrial projects, including substations, pipelines, pumping stations, district cooling plants, and utility facilities. The role ensures compliance with project specifications, authority requirements, and international design standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare civil design calculations, reports, and technical specifications.
Develop structural and civil layouts including:
Foundations (equipment, tanks, pipe supports)
Buildings (control rooms, pump rooms)
Underground structures (sumps, chambers, manholes)
Roadworks and grading
Perform structural analysis and design using relevant software.
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures.
Review geotechnical reports and integrate recommendations into foundation design.
Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and process teams.
Review shop drawings and contractor submissions.
Liaise with authorities (ADM, TRANSCO, ADDC, Civil Defense, etc.) for approvals when required.
Support the construction team with technical clarifications.
Ensure compliance with local and international standards (ACI, BS, Eurocode, AASHTO, etc.).
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
Minimum 8–12 years of experience in civil design.
Experience in infrastructure / industrial projects (pipelines, substations, and pumping stations preferred).
Proficiency in:
ETABS / SAFE / STAAD
AutoCAD / Civil 3D
MS Office
Preferred Skills
Experience in 132kV substations or utility corridors.
Experience in pipeline thrust block design and underground structures.
Good coordination and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
