Job Description
The CAD operator manages and maintains project models and CAD drawings, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with client requirements and BIM standards. The role supports project teams by providing model extraction, clash detection, coordination with consultants, and validation of design information throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities include:
- Support and develop constituent parts of the information model or CAD drawings in connection with specific tasks and production of project outputs.
- Create, maintain, and manage a single point central database that hosts all models or CAD files.
- Review models and CAD drawings with contractors and consultants to highlight any design or construction issues.
- Provide direct support to the project team in extracting information from the model or CAD files for visualization purposes.
- Enforce reliability of the BIM models information and CAD files so that they are an accurate representation.
- Regularly audit, integrate, and validate information to ensure the BIM model and CAD files are robust and meet client requirements.
- Ensure level of information need (LOIN) delivered in the models are as per deliverables requirements of the relevant stage of the project.
- Manage model updates.
- Coordinate submission and exchange of models.
- Provide clash detection.
- Support and participate in recording lessons learned and sharing with relevant parties.
- Support and participate in identifying and classifying any risks related to BIM and their mitigation strategies.
- Ensure the BIM management system is maintained and followed.
- Attend and provide support during coordination meetings with consultants.
- Inform themselves of the relevant quality, environmental, safety, and occupational health policies, manuals, and procedures in place and ensure continued compliance while employed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager or supervisor, including occasional drafting work in support of project management consultancy activities.
Qualifications
- Diploma in civil engineering or relevant field.
- More than 7 years of experience in CAD drafting and BIM modelling.
- Preferably experience in infrastructure projects.
- Must have experience with ISO 19650.
- Proficient with Civil 3D, Autodesk Infraworks, and AutoCAD.
- Good communication skills with the ability to compose and explain complex issues concisely to different audiences.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent team working skills, motivated and productive attitude.
