Job description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team & Technical Leadership:

1) Lead, mentor, and manage a mixed team of ~10 mechanical and electronic service engineers.

2) Act as the primary technical expert and final escalation point for all complex diagnostic and repair challenges.

3) Plan and manage engineer schedules, dispatching the right skills for 24/7 emergency call-outs, planned maintenance, and major projects.

4) Conduct regular performance reviews, identify training needs, and develop the technical competency of the team.

5)  Foster a strong culture of safety (HSE), quality, and first-time-fix problem-solving.


2. Service Operations Management :

1)  Oversee the entire service workflow, from customer call and quotation to job execution and final invoicing.

2) Ensure all service work (maintenance, repair, overhaul) is executed to OEM (Cummins) standards and meets marine classification society (e.g., DNV, BV, LR) requirements.

3) Review and approve all technical service reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and timely submission to clients.

4)  Implement and optimize service processes to improve response time, efficiency, and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).

3. Expert Technical Execution (Hands-on) :

1) Personally lead or supervise complex troubleshooting of advanced mechanical issues (e.g., fuel systems, engine performance) and electronic/control systems (e.g., PCC, Deep Sea, AVRs, governors, synchronization).

2) Plan, scope, and manage major overhaul projects, both on-board vessels and in the workshop, ensuring all tolerances and procedures are met.

3) Oversee and sign off on the commissioning of new and repaired generator sets, including load bank testing and sea trials.

4. Customer & Commercial Management :

1)  Serve as the key technical point of contact for high-value clients, including ship owners, fleet managers, and chief engineers.

2)  Handle and resolve any client escalations or service disputes professionally.

3) Work closely with the parts and sales teams to provide expert technical scoping for complex repair and overhaul quotations, ensuring profitability and accuracy.

Skills

Required Qualifications & Experience (Must-Haves) :

1.Minimum 7-10 years of direct, hands-on field experience specifically with Cummins marine generator sets (e.g., KTA19, KTA38, KTA50, QSK-60, Onan).

2.Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management role, leading a technical service team.

3.Expert-level, proven experience in the following three areas:

1) Troubleshooting:  Advanced diagnostics of complex mechanical failures AND electronic control systems.

2) Overhaul:  Proven experience managing or leading full "major" engine overhauls.

3) Commissioning:  Onboard  installation,  paralleling / synchronization,  and load testing.

4.Essential:  Expert-level proficiency with Cummins diagnostic software  (e.g., Cummins Insite, Incal) and related diagnostic tools.

5.Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, power generation, and protection relays.

6.Valid UAE Driver's License and willingness to travel to ports/vessels across the UAE.

Desired Skills :

1.Bachelor’s degree in marine, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering is preferred.

2.Formal Cummins OEM training and certifications.

3.Experience in the Dubai / UAE marine services market.

4.Strong leadership, communication, and customer-facing skills.

5.Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, 24/7 industry.
