Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Light Gauge Steel Structural Engineer with strong modular and offsite construction experience to lead the structural design, analysis, and coordination of prefabricated modular building systems. The role focuses on designing cold-formed steel framing for modular units, ensuring structural integrity during manufacturing, transportation, lifting, and installation, while complying with relevant international codes and project requirements.

Desired Candidate Profile

Structural Design & Engineering

  • Design and analyse Light Gauge / Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) systems for modular units, volumetric modules, and hybrid structures

  • Perform structural checks for in-service loads, transportation loads, lifting stresses, stacking, and temporary conditions

  • Develop optimized structural systems considering manufacturability, repeatability, and cost efficiency

  • Prepare detailed structural calculations, design reports, and authority submission documents

Modular & Offsite Construction Support

  • Coordinate with factory production teams to ensure designs align with manufacturing processes

  • Review and approve shop drawings, framing layouts, and connection details for modular units

  • Provide technical input on module-to-module connections, tie-down systems, tolerances, and assembly sequencing

  • Support lifting plans, transportation methods, and installation strategies

Coordination & Project Delivery

  • Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, project managers, and QA/QC teams

  • Participate in design coordination meetings, technical workshops, and value engineering exercises

  • Respond to RFIs, technical queries, and site/factory issues during production and erection

Codes, Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with AISI, Eurocode, ASCE, IBC, and local building authority requirements

  • Support authority approvals and respond to technical review comments

  • Maintain engineering quality, safety standards, and documentation control

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • Minimum 5–10 years experience in Light Gauge Steel structures, with proven modular construction experience

  • Strong understanding of offsite manufacturing and modular building systems

Technical Skills

  • LGS / Modular design software: FrameCAD, Vertex, Tekla Structures, Revit

  • Structural analysis tools: STRAP, STAAD, ETABS, SAP2000

  • AutoCAD and BIM coordination workflows

  • Good knowledge of connection design, bracing systems, load transfer, and tolerances

Soft Skills

  • Strong coordination and interdisciplinary communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced modular production environment

  • Problem-solving mindset with focus on buildability

  • High attention to detail and documentation accuracy

Preferred / Added Advantage

  • Experience in GCC / UAE modular projects

  • Familiarity with factory QA/QC systems and production workflows

  • Knowledge of transportation and lifting engineering for modular units

  • Professional Engineer / Chartered Engineer certification

Work Environment

  • Office-based with regular coordination at modular manufacturing facilities

  • Occasional site visits during installation and commissioning

  • Project-driven schedules aligned with factory production timelines
