Mechanical Supervisor – Nuclear Power Plant Outage Maintenance
Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to provide technical leadership, supervision, and expert guidance during Mechanical Inspection and Overhaul activities at a Nuclear Power Plant.
The role is responsible for supporting maintenance scope execution, complex troubleshooting, engineering evaluations, operability determinations, operational decision-making, and temporary modifications throughout the planning, execution, and post-closeout phases of outage and maintenance activities.
The successful candidate will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, nuclear safety standards, industrial safety practices, environmental requirements, and operational performance objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Execution & Technical Leadership
Lead and guide mechanical maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
Support initiatives to reduce operating and maintenance costs while maintaining compliance with plant design requirements and regulatory standards.
Identify, investigate, and resolve off-normal equipment conditions.
Preserve equipment design margins and support safe plant operation.
Provide technical guidance on predictive maintenance technologies and equipment condition monitoring.
Lead complex troubleshooting activities and provide expert technical support.
Support major maintenance windows and outage execution activities.
Manage preventive maintenance programs and optimize maintenance strategies based on equipment condition.
Support engineering evaluations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Prioritize maintenance backlogs and optimize resource utilization.
Report maintenance performance and outcomes to engineering management.
Shutdown & Outage Support
Supervise component inspections and evaluations during outages and shutdowns.
Identify equipment degradation and potential operational concerns.
Oversee contractor maintenance activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures and quality standards.
Support preparation activities for WANO pre-startup peer reviews.
Provide input for maintenance, engineering, and operational procedure improvements.
Engineering Rapid Response
Lead urgent troubleshooting activities supporting Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering departments.
Conduct operability determinations and engineering evaluations.
Support operational decision-making during critical plant conditions.
Lead development and implementation of temporary modifications to support plant operations.
Emergency Response & Plant Support
Support Emergency Response Organization (ERO) activities as assigned.
Provide support during shift work, outage periods, and off-hours maintenance requirements.
Contribute to safe, reliable, and continuous plant operation.
Planning & Performance Management
Plan, organize, and execute maintenance activities within approved scope and schedules.
Achieve productivity, performance, and outage schedule targets.
Control overtime utilization and optimize manpower deployment.
Ensure efficient use of maintenance resources and materials.
Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with approved quality procedures and nuclear quality standards.
Support resolution of quality-related issues and workmanship concerns.
Work closely with engineering and quality teams to maintain compliance requirements.
Team Leadership & Workforce Development
Conduct toolbox talks, pre-job briefings, safety meetings, and work coordination sessions.
Handle first-line disciplinary, grievance, and performance management matters.
Promote teamwork, accountability, and safe work practices.
Support workforce qualification, training, and competency development programs.
Health, Safety & Security
Ensure compliance with all HSE, nuclear safety, and environmental requirements.
Promote safe work practices and protect personnel, plant assets, and the environment.
Comply with site security requirements and support crisis management and business continuity initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
Promote operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
Contribute to achieving organizational quality and performance objectives.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications
Education
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience within a Nuclear Power Plant outage environment.
Experience in primary-side and secondary-side mechanical maintenance activities.
Experience in preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), projects, inspections, and equipment overhaul activities within nuclear facilities.
Previous supervisory experience within outage or maintenance environments is highly desirable.
Required Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of international maintenance standards and practices.
Extensive experience in nuclear and power plant mechanical maintenance.
Knowledge of valve operations and heavy lifting activities.
Familiarity with MS Project and Primavera.
Ability to perform complex troubleshooting and technical decision-making.
Strong understanding of nuclear safety procedures and maintenance practices.
Ability to obtain approved Permit Holder certification.
