Title: Adjunct Lecturer for Information Security Policy and Governance (IT)

Overview and Objectives of the Position:Lecturers at Murdoch University Dubai are responsible for delivering high-quality education to a diverse cohort of students in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, industry-relevant teaching that equips students with a comprehensive understanding of information security principles, governance frameworks, risk management practices, policy development, contingency planning, and industry standards including NIST and ISO. The role requires the delivery of engaging lectures and tutorials using active learning methodologies that foster critical thinking, independent research, and practical problem-solving skills. Students will apply theoretical knowledge to real-world information security challenges through case studies, group work, and individual assessments.
Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will facilitate engaging lectures and tutorials using an active learning approach, enabling students to apply theoretical concepts to real-world information security challenges. Topics covered include:Information and computer security fundamentals Security controls and implementation planning Contingency planning and testing Information security policy development Security programs and organisational practices Risk assessment and threat identification Ethical and legal aspects of information security Information security standards and frameworks (NIST, ISO)
Essential Requirements Postgraduate-level education/AQF Level 8 qualification (or equivalent) in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline Demonstrated expertise in information security policy, governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks Strong knowledge of industry standards and best practices, including NIST and ISO frameworks Mandatory Teaching Requirement Applicants must have prior teaching experience at the university or higher education level. Applications from candidates without tertiary-level teaching experience will not be considered. Desirable Industry experience in information security policy and governance Experience delivering active learning and case-based teaching approaches Ability to supervise group activities and foster independent research skills
