Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanic with expertise in hydraulic systems and diesel engines to lead maintenance and repair activities on a wide range of heavy equipment, vehicles, and machinery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced troubleshooting skills, the ability to train junior mechanics, and a strong understanding of safety standards and preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and related components on heavy equipment and vehicles.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools.
Lead and supervise junior mechanics and technicians; provide technical guidance and training.
Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet safety, quality, and operational standards.
Read and interpret hydraulic and engine schematics, manuals, and technical drawings.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, parts used, and time spent.
Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance without interrupting operations.
Monitor inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; initiate orders when necessary.
Comply with all company and regulatory safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
Desired Candidate Profile
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Education: High School Diploma or Technical School Certification in Mechanics, Diesel Technology, or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in diesel engine repair and hydraulic system maintenance.
- In-depth knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, transmissions, and related components.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and reading schematics.
- Familiarity with heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and trucks (depending on industry).
- Valid driver’s license; CDL or equipment operator certification is a plus.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and teamwork.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Physically demanding – may require lifting heavy equipment, working in various positions, and operating in outdoor or workshop environments.
- May involve overtime, weekends, or emergency callouts depending on operational needs.
