Job Details

  • Lead and manage electrical construction activities for power infrastructure projects, including substations, transformers, switchgear, transmission and associated electrical systems.

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise electrical installation activities in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, project schedules, and contractual requirements.

  • Manage electrical site teams, engineers, supervisors, technicians, subcontractors, and specialist vendors.

  • Coordinate with construction, civil, engineering, planning, procurement, QA/QC, HSE, testing and commissioning teams to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, equipment layouts, specifications, method statements, and technical submissions before commencement of works.

  • Ensure proper installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.

  • Monitor project progress against approved schedules and implement corrective and recovery actions where required.

  • Ensure availability and efficient utilization of manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and other resources required for electrical works.

  • Coordinate procurement, inspection, delivery, storage, and installation of electrical equipment and materials.

  • Supervise installation of transformers, switchgear, GIS/AIS equipment, protection systems, control panels, cables, earthing systems, lighting, auxiliary systems, and related electrical infrastructure.

  • Coordinate with testing and commissioning teams for pre-commissioning checks, functional testing, protection testing, energization, and handover activities.

  • Ensure electrical works comply with approved designs, project specifications, UAE authority requirements, applicable standards, and client requirements.

  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, utility authorities, and other stakeholders for inspections, approvals, technical clarifications, and resolution of site issues.

  • Review and approve subcontractor work plans, method statements, shop drawings, inspection requests, and technical documentation as applicable.

  • Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, workmanship, resource deployment, and compliance with project requirements.

  • Ensure all electrical activities are executed in accordance with approved HSE procedures, risk assessments, and safe working practices.

  • Identify technical, construction, procurement, and interface risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify progress, quality, installation practices, and compliance with approved requirements.

  • Coordinate resolution of RFIs, technical queries, non-conformances, design changes, and site coordination issues.

  • Monitor electrical quantities, variations, additional works, and material consumption and support the commercial team in contractual matters.

  • Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and provide updates to project management.

  • Ensure completion of testing, commissioning, snagging, as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and final handover requirements.

  • Drive continuous improvement, productivity, cost control, and timely completion of electrical works.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; a relevant postgraduate qualification or professional certification will be an advantage.

  • Typically 10–15 years of relevant experience in electrical construction and project execution, preferably within power transmission, substations, or major EPC projects.

  • Strong hands-on experience in substation and transformer projects is highly preferred.

  • Experience in electrical installation, testing, commissioning, energization, and handover of power infrastructure projects.

  • Strong knowledge of HV/EHV electrical systems, transformers, switchgear, protection and control systems, cables, earthing, and auxiliary systems.

  • Experience in managing electrical subcontractors, site teams, vendors, and multidisciplinary project interfaces.

  • Knowledge of construction planning, project schedules, resource management, QA/QC, HSE, and project documentation.

  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, SLDs, equipment layouts, cable schedules, specifications, and technical documents.

  • Knowledge of applicable IEC standards, UAE regulations, utility requirements, and electrical safety practices.

  • UAE/GCC experience and exposure to utility approvals such as DEWA, TRANSCO/TAQA, or equivalent authorities will be an advantage.

  • Strong leadership, communication, coordination, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant project planning/documentation tools.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver electrical works within required timelines, quality standards, safety requirements, and budgets.

Preferred Experience

  • Extra-high-voltage/high-voltage substation construction experience.

  • Experience with transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, protection and control, SCADA, electrical testing, and commissioning.

  • Experience with major EPC contractors, utilities, transmission/distribution projects, or large-scale power infrastructure.

  • Experience handling client/consultant inspections, authority approvals, energization, and final project handover.

  • UAE/GCC project experience with relevant utility and authority approvals is highly desirable.
