Job Details

  • Lead and manage day-to-day construction activities for power projects, including substations, electrical infrastructure, and associated civil works.

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute construction activities in line with approved project schedules, drawings, specifications, method statements, and contractual requirements.

  • Manage site execution teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist contractors to ensure efficient project delivery.

  • Coordinate closely with project management, engineering, planning, procurement, QA/QC, HSE, testing and commissioning teams.

  • Review construction drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection and test plans, and other technical documents prior to execution.

  • Monitor project progress against approved schedules and establish recovery plans where delays or deviations are identified.

  • Ensure construction activities are completed within approved budgets while effectively controlling manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources.

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable UAE regulations, authority requirements, and international engineering standards.

  • Supervise civil and electrical construction activities associated with substations and power infrastructure projects.

  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, authorities, utility providers, and other stakeholders to resolve technical, construction, and site-related issues.

  • Ensure all construction works are carried out in accordance with approved method statements, risk assessments, and quality requirements.

  • Drive implementation of HSE policies and ensure a strong safety culture across project sites.

  • Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover activities with relevant project teams.

  • Identify construction risks, constraints, and potential delays and implement appropriate mitigation measures.

  • Review subcontractor performance, productivity, work quality, resource deployment, and adherence to project requirements.

  • Conduct regular site meetings and progress reviews and provide accurate updates to senior management.

  • Ensure proper documentation of site activities, progress reports, inspections, approvals, material records, and project handover documents.

  • Support commercial and contractual teams in managing variations, claims, additional works, and subcontractor-related matters.

  • Drive productivity improvement, efficient resource utilization, and timely resolution of site issues.

  • Ensure project close-out, snagging, testing, commissioning, as-built documentation, and final handover are completed successfully.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

  • Typically 10–15 years of relevant construction experience, preferably within power infrastructure, substations, electrical projects, or large-scale infrastructure projects.

  • Strong experience managing construction activities for substations and power projects.

  • Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary construction teams, subcontractors, and site operations.

  • Strong knowledge of construction planning, project execution, quality management, and HSE requirements.

  • Experience working with clients, consultants, utility authorities, and other project stakeholders in the UAE is preferred.

  • Knowledge of UAE utility requirements and approvals such as DEWA, TRANSCO/TAQA, or equivalent authority requirements will be an advantage.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, method statements, schedules, and technical documentation.

  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project controls, risk management, and resource planning.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, coordination, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management/planning tools.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects within stringent timelines, quality, safety, and budget requirements.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in extra-high-voltage/high-voltage substation construction and associated infrastructure.

  • Experience with major EPC contractors, utility projects, or large-scale power infrastructure developments.

  • Familiarity with testing, commissioning, energization, and project handover processes.

  • UAE/GCC project experience with relevant authority approvals is highly desirable.
