We are looking to hire a Senior Manager – Urban Planning who will be responsible for leading urban planning initiatives, managing master planning approvals, developing planning policies and regulations, and ensuring compliance with city-wide planning frameworks for our client based in Dubai, one of the largest organizations in the region.
This position is a 6-month contract role is renewable based on performance.
The role sits within the Urban Planning Department and reports directly to the Director – Urban Planning.
We are looking for a passionate Senior Manager – Urban Planning with extensive experience in master planning, urban development, planning regulations, land use planning, and stakeholder management. You should also have strong knowledge of urban planning standards, zoning regulations, development approvals, sustainable city planning, and working with government authorities and major developers.
Key Responsibilities:Lead the review, development, and implementation of urban planning policies, standards, and regulatory frameworks. Manage the review and approval of master plans, subdivision plans, land use proposals, and urban development projects. Ensure compliance with city planning regulations, zoning requirements, and urban design standards. Develop and enhance planning guidelines, approval processes, and documentation to improve operational efficiency. Conduct land feasibility assessments and evaluate planning opportunities to support sustainable urban growth. Analyse market trends, planning data, and development opportunities to support future city expansion. Build and maintain strong relationships with government entities, developers, consultants, and other key stakeholders. Resolve planning, zoning, and regulatory issues while providing practical recommendations for complex developments. Lead continuous improvement initiatives across planning processes, templates, and approval workflows. Prepare reports, planning documentation, and ensure compliance with governance and record management standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related discipline. A Master's degree in Urban Planning is preferred. Minimum 8–10 years of experience in urban planning, master planning, or development regulation. Strong understanding of urban planning legislation, zoning regulations, master planning approvals, and land use planning. Experience working with government authorities, developers, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and project management capabilities. High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
