Job Overview
The Senior Mechanical Engineer acts as the lead technical authority on site, managing mechanical installation, testing, and commissioning for large-scale developments. This role ensures that all site works comply with approved designs, international codes, and local authority regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision: Oversee day-to-day mechanical construction activities, ensuring quality and adherence to project specifications. Submittal Reviews: Evaluate and approve contractor shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and requests for information (RFIs). Team Leadership: Manage and mentor junior mechanical engineers, inspectors, and site teams. Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with clients, contractors, architects, and local regulatory authorities. Testing & Commissioning: Witness and approve equipment testing, startup procedures, and final project handover.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred. Experience: Minimum 15 years of total professional experience, with significant focus on construction supervision within an engineering consultancy. Regional Knowledge: Mandatory GCC or UAE working experience and familiarity with local codes (such as ADCD, DEWA, or related municipal authorities). Technical Skills: Deep expertise in HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems.
