Assistant HSE Engineer

The project: 

Mace is providing project management services on a large mixed-use regeneration development in Abu Dhabi. The site will have commercial workplaces and retail units along with public realm.

Supports the HSW team in delivering health, safety and wellbeing activities across assigned projects, applying established technical knowledge to promote Mace’s Safety First value, strengthen compliance and contribute to safe, inclusive and high-performing project environments.

You’ll be responsible for:
 

Safety first - Going home safe and well:

• You will promote Mace's value of Safety First, exhibiting visible safety behaviours, sharing lessons learned and using safety moments and Mace's HSW framework to support the safety and wellbeing of all Mace staff.
• You will possess technical expertise in local health and safety rules and regulations relevant to project portfolio.

• You will ensure robust quality systems are in place and suitably managed in line with service excellence. 
• You will manage delivery from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.
• You will manage tasks and associated deliverables in support of the Associate Director and other senior leaders, alongside the wider project and client teams, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the project.

• You will manage design and wider consultant teams in a collaborative manner to ensure effective completion of responsibilities. 
• You will lead and manage the project team and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs).

Your responsibilities:

• Support implementation of HSW policies, standards and guidance across the business.

  
  

• Coordinate inspection and audit schedules, supporting ISO and compliance reviews.

  
  

• Analyse reports, KPIs, corrective actions and audit outcomes to identify improvements.

  
  

• Build trusted stakeholder relationships and support mitigation plans aligned to Mace standards.

  
  

• Shape and mobilise the right expertise, resources and partners to deliver project success.

  
  

• Lead integrated teams to achieve programme, KPIs and client outcomes.

  
  

• Manage scope, budgets, risk, change and quality with confidence.

  
  

• Manage collaboration, innovation and knowledge across Mace.

  
  

You’ll need to have:

• HSW experience with strong industry interest.

  
  

• IOSH Managing Safely Level 2 or equivalent.

  
  

• Willingness to achieve Level 3 Safety Management qualification.

  
  

• Collaborative, proactive and digitally confident communicator.

  
  

• Professional membership or equivalent development.

  
  

• Project delivery experience across property, infrastructure or construction.

  
  

• Strong commercial, financial and stakeholder skills.

  
  

• Inclusive leadership with sustainability focus.
