Job Details

Every bag we make carries a design, and every bag we sell is sold with one — a catalogue page, a mockup in a client pitch, a launch email, a short video. Right now that work is spread thin across people whose main job is something else. We want a designer who owns it. This role has two halves. The first is product: creating original print patterns and seamless repeats for our tote and beach-tote collections, building realistic mockups, and preparing files that a screen printer can actually use. The second is marketing: turning those products into catalogues, client presentations, newsletters and short videos that help our sales team close. This is not a shadowing internship. Your patterns will go on bags that ship, your mockups will go in front of clients, and your catalogue will be the one our sales team sends out. You will get briefs, feedback and deadlines — and a portfolio of real, produced work at the end.

Design for the product

  • Create original print patterns and seamless repeats for tote bags, beach totes and new styles in development.

  • Turn rough briefs and reference images into presentable design options — usually 2–3 directions per brief.

  • Adapt artwork across fabric types and canvas weights (3 oz to 18 oz), dyed and natural, so it prints the way it looks on screen.

  • Work to brand guidelines for our own collections, and to client brand kits for custom orders.

Prepare for production

  • Prepare production-ready files: correct repeat tiling, colour separations, spot colours and Pantone references, clean vector line work.

  • Check artwork against the print method (screen print, DTG, heat transfer) and flag what will not work before it reaches the factory.

  • Keep an organised library of final files, colour references and approved samples.

Design for the sale

  • Build realistic bag mockups and presentation visuals for client pitches and catalogues.

  • Design and update our product catalogues and one-page line sheets as new styles launch.

  • Edit product photography and short videos for launches, client education and social media.

  • Lay out customised newsletters for clients — new product launches, care and sustainability explainers — working from copy provided by the team.

  • Produce quick sales and social collateral in Canva when speed matters more than polish.

Desired Candidate Profile

Must have

  • Final-year student or recent graduate in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Textile or Surface Pattern Design, or a related field.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and CorelDRAW. All three are used daily — CorelDRAW is how our production files are built, so this is not optional.

  • Demonstrated ability to build seamless repeats, not just standalone graphics. We will ask to see one.

  • Comfort working in both CMYK and Pantone, and an awareness that colour behaves differently on natural versus dyed fabric.

  • Basic video editing (CapCut, Premiere Pro or similar) for short product and explainer clips — or the willingness to pick it up in your first two weeks.

  • Ability to take feedback without defensiveness and turn revisions around quickly. Client work means several rounds, often on short notice.

  • Organised with files and versions. Production mistakes are expensive; a mislabelled colour separation can spoil a run.

Good to have

  • Understanding of print methods used on fabric (screen print, DTG, heat transfer) and their limitations.

  • Textile or surface-pattern design background, or coursework in it.

  • Experience with 3D mockups (Blender, Adobe Dimension, Substance) or technical flats.

  • Canva for quick social and sales collateral.

  • Prior work — including student or freelance projects — with sustainable, packaging or merchandise brands.

  • Interest in sustainability, manufacturing or B2B.
