Job Purpose

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the company’s logistics activities, focusing on fleet management, driver coordination, third-party transporter relations, and ensuring compliance with UAE regulations. This role will optimize delivery plans, reduce costs, and maintain operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Management:

  • Manage the company’s fleet, including vans, buses, trailers, salon cars, and leased vehicles.
  • Ensure timely renewals of vehicle licenses, insurance, and registrations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate repairs and servicing for vehicles experiencing breakdowns.
  • Manage leasing contracts, ensuring compliance with terms, renewals, and returns.
  • Ensure vehicles meet all UAE regulatory transportation standards.

Third-Party Transport And Leasing Coordination

  • Communicate with third-party transport providers to ensure cost-effective and reliable service.
  • Negotiate contracts and rates with transporters to meet delivery requirements.
  • Monitor third-party transporter performance and resolve service issues.
  • Coordinate with leasing companies for vehicle replacement or maintenance.
  • Maintain records for leased vehicles, including usage and cost tracking.

Driver Management

  • Supervise and coordinate all logistics drivers, ensuring adherence to schedules.
  • Assign daily routes to maximize trips and reduce idle time.
  • Provide ongoing driver training on safety, regulations, and best practices.
  • Monitor driver behavior and ensure compliance with traffic laws and company policies.
  • Prepare performance reports for drivers on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Address driver grievances or disciplinary issues promptly.

Logistics Operations

  • Develop and implement daily delivery plans based on customer and production schedules.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team for timely dispatch and delivery.
  • Analyze logistics data to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
  • Ensure timely submission of logistics reports (daily, weekly, and monthly).
  • Stay up-to-date with UAE laws and regulations related to logistics operations and ensure compliance.

Cost Management And Optimization

  • Monitor logistics expenses to identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Negotiate favorable maintenance and leasing agreements with vendors and leasing companies.
  • Reduce operational waste through improved processes and better driver management.

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain a fleet management system for tracking vehicles, maintenance, and performance.
  • Develop a contingency plan for emergency situations such as vehicle breakdowns or driver unavailability.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team for vehicle purchases or contracts.
  • Ensure drivers and vehicles are properly equipped with tools, safety equipment, and necessary permits.
  • Oversee the documentation and record-keeping for all fleet, driver, and third-party transporter activities.

Key Skills And Qualifications

  • Proven experience in logistics or fleet management, preferably in the UAE.
  • In-depth knowledge of UAE transportation regulations, distribution permits, and leasing practices.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report generation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with vehicle maintenance and repair processes.
  • Experience in managing third-party transporters and leasing companies.
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and fleet management software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
