Roles & Responsibilities
Principal Accountabilities
The Secondary Process Technician is responsible for carrying out surface preparation, coating, preservation, and packing activities for oilfield completion products in accordance with approved process specifications, customer requirements, and Quality/HSE standards. The role ensures product integrity, corrosion protection, and compliance with dimensional, coating, and cleanliness requirements, delivering defect-free products on schedule.
Job Responsibilities
A. Surface Preparation
Perform glass bead peening, aluminium oxide blasting, and other approved blasting operations in accordance with established process parameters.
Monitor blasting media condition, nozzle performance, operating pressure, and surface profile to ensure specification compliance.
Verify surface cleanliness, profile, and readiness before coating, and apply masking where required.
B. Coating & Preservation
Apply Xylan coating, phosphate coating, and Moly-coat in accordance with approved process specifications and required film thickness.
Carry out masking, de-masking, curing (oven operation), and preservation activities.
Perform in-process inspections, including dry film thickness (DFT), adhesion, coating coverage, and visual appearance, while maintaining accurate process records.
C. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
Safely operate blasting equipment, spray systems, phosphate tanks, curing ovens, and packing equipment.
Perform routine cleaning and first-level preventive maintenance, reporting equipment malfunctions promptly.
Ensure the safe handling, storage, and proper use of process chemicals and consumables.
D. Inspection & Quality Control
Conduct visual inspections to verify coating quality, surface finish, cleanliness, and product traceability.
Identify, segregate, and report non-conforming products through the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process.
Maintain accurate product identification and traceability, including Heat Number, Work Order Number, and Serial Number.
E. Packing, Preservation & Dispatch
Perform product cleaning, rust prevention, wrapping, preservation, packing, and labelling activities.
Prepare products for shipment in accordance with customer specifications and approved packing instructions.
Support material handling using overhead cranes, pallet jacks, and forklifts where appropriately trained and authorized.
F. Quality, Health, Safety & Compliance
Comply with API Q1, ISO 9001, applicable work instructions, and approved process specifications.
Maintain workplace organization through effective implementation of 5S practices.
Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements, including the proper use of PPE, safe handling of chemicals, and reporting of unsafe conditions.
Comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and ethical standards.
Support production targets, continuous improvement initiatives, and departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Required Competencies
Successfully complete all mandatory training requirements as specified in the Employee Qualification and OJT Form No. S1-026F.
Demonstrated practical experience in glass bead peening, aluminium oxide blasting, Xylan coating, phosphate processing, and Moly-coat application.
Ability to interpret work instructions, verify coating quality (including DFT and coverage), and maintain accurate production records.
Knowledge of safe handling practices for coating chemicals and blasting media, with a strong commitment to PPE compliance.
Strong attention to detail, quality awareness, teamwork, and effective communication skills.
Ability to safely handle heavy components and operate lifting equipment where authorized.
