Job Purpose

To perform and coordinate QA/QC activities related to inspection, repair, overhaul and servicing of pumps and associated rotating equipment, ensuring compliance with API requirements, customer requirements, approved procedures, drawings, applicable standards and IMS requirements.


Key Responsibilities

1. Incoming Material Inspection

  • Inspect incoming materials, components and spare parts against PO, drawings and technical requirements.

  • Verify material identification, Heat No., MTC and material traceability.

  • Conduct PMI & other material verification when required.

  • Ensure accepted, rejected and hold materials are properly identified and controlled.

2. Pump & associated rotating & static equipment’s Inspection & Overhaul

  • Perform and document inspections during pump & associated rotating & static equipment’s dismantling, repair, machining, assembly and final inspection.

  • Verify critical dimensions, clearances, fits, tolerances, shaft runout/TIR and component condition.

  • Inspect pump components including shafts, impellers, casings, wear rings, sleeves, bearings and other critical parts.

  • Ensure repair activities are carried out according to approved repair procedures, drawings and customer requirements.

3. Inspection & Test Plan / Route Card / Method Statement

  • Prepare and follow approved ITPs, Method Statements, Quality Plans, Route cards and inspection procedures.

  • Ensure required Hold, Witness and Review points are completed and documented.

  • Maintain inspection traceability throughout the repair process.

  • Coordinate customer/third-party inspections when required.

4. Welding & NDT Inspection

  • Provide & Verify welding activities against approved WPS/PQR and applicable requirements.

  • Check & update the welder qualification and relevant documentation.

  • Coordinate and review NDT activities such as LPI/DPT, MPI, UT and other applicable methods.

  • Review NDT reports and ensure identified discontinuities are properly addressed before further processing.

5. Machining & Dimensional Inspection

  • Carry out dimensional inspection of machined and repaired components.

  • Verify dimensions against drawings, OEM requirements and approved tolerances.

  • Ensure inspection results are accurately recorded in the relevant inspection reports & route cards.

Blasting, Painting & Coating Inspection

  • Inspect surface preparation, blasting and painting/coating activities in accordance with approved specifications and customer requirements.

  • Verify surface cleanliness and surface profile after blasting where applicable.

  • Measure and record Dry Film Thickness (DFT) using calibrated equipment.

  • Check coating for defects such as runs, sags, pinholes, blistering, insufficient coverage, contamination or physical damage.

  • Ensure blasting and painting inspection records are completed before final release.

6. Final Inspection & Release

  • Conduct final inspection after completion of repair and assembly.

  • Verify completion of all required inspection and testing activities including photographs.

  • Review inspection reports, dimensional records, NDT reports and supporting quality documentation.

  • Confirm equipment conformity before QA/QC release for dispatch.

7. NCR & Corrective Action

  • Identify and report non-conforming materials, components or processes.

  • Raise and follow the NCRs process and maintain appropriate records.

  • Coordinate with Operations, Reverse Engineering and concerned departments for disposition and corrective action.

  • Verify completion and effectiveness of corrective actions before NCR closure.

8. Measuring & Inspection Equipment

  • Ensure measuring and inspection instruments used for acceptance are within valid calibration.

  • Maintain identification and calibration status of QA/QC measuring equipment.

  • Prevent the use of expired, damaged or unsuitable measuring instruments.

9. Supplier / Subcontractor Quality

  • Carry out inspection at supplier/subcontractor facilities when required.

  • Monitor outsourced activities such as machining, welding, coating, fabrication and NDT.

  • Verify supplier quality documentation and report any quality deviations.

10. Quality Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records and reports.

  • Compile quality dossiers as required by customer or project requirements.

  • Maintain traceability of inspection reports, certificates, NDT records and material documentation.

  • Support internal, customer and third-party audits.

Qualification

  • Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Relevant QA/QC inspection certification or training is preferred.

  • Certified Welding Inspector – CSWIP 3.1

  • NDT Level II qualification in PT/MT/UT would be an advantage.


Desired Candidate Profile

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of QA/QC inspection experience, preferably in pump repair, rotating equipment, mechanical maintenance or manufacturing.

  • Experience in pump dismantling, inspection, repair, machining and assembly is preferred.

  • UAE/GCC experience in pump service or rotating equipment industry would be an advantage.

Technical Knowledge

Candidate should have good knowledge of:

  • Centrifugal pumps and rotating equipment.

  • Engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.

  • Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, height gauges and other precision measuring instruments.

  • Shaft runout/TIR, fits, clearances and dimensional inspection.

  • Welding inspection and NDT fundamentals.

  • Material identification, MTC and Heat No. traceability.

  • ITPs, Quality Plans, route cards and inspection reports.

  • NCR, root cause analysis and corrective action.

  • ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements.

  • Relevant API, ASME, ISO and customer specifications as applicable.

Key Competencies

  • Strong command of written and spoken English is essential.

  • Strong attention to detail and quality awareness.

  • Ability to independently make inspection and acceptance decisions within defined requirements.

  • Good technical reporting and documentation skills.

  • Effective communication with workshop, engineering, suppliers, customers and third-party inspectors.

  • Ability to identify quality risks and escalate deviations before proceeding with subsequent repair stages.

  • Computer literacy including MS Office and quality documentation systems.
