Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a reliable and motivated kitchen team member to join the hot kitchen as a Commis I.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with mise en place, portioning and basic food preparation according to recipes and chef instructions.

  • Perform basic cooking tasks on hot kitchen equipment (e.g., frying, sautéing, grilling) under supervision.

  • Plate and finish dishes to the required standard and assist with garnishing and presentation.

Kitchen Operations & Hygiene

  • Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and personal hygiene at all times.

  • Follow correct food storage, rotation (FIFO) and temperature-control procedures.

  • Clean and sanitise workstations, equipment and utensils after use and at end of service.

Stock & Basic Kitchen Duties

  • Assist with receiving and checking deliveries, storing items correctly and labelling where required.

  • Monitor basic ingredient levels and communicate reorder requirements.

  • Perform general kitchen tasks such as peeling, chopping, weighing and basic prep work as directed.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in a professional kitchen or culinary training (apprenticeship or vocational course preferred).

  • Basic knowledge of hot kitchen operations and cooking techniques.

  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices (certificate desirable).

  • Good command of English and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Reliable, punctual and able to work flexible hours including early starts, evenings and weekends as required.

Desirable

  • Experience in private property, fine dining or hotel kitchens.

  • Any relevant food hygiene, food handling or culinary qualifications.

  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to perform under pressure.
