About the Role

We are looking for a Pharmaceutical Data Specialist to join our team at EmergPharma, a pharmaceutical data and intelligence platform.

The primary responsibility of this role is to clean, standardize, validate, and structure pharmaceutical data to ensure high data quality and consistency across our platform.

The ideal candidate should have a strong pharmaceutical background combined with good technical and data skills. Experience with Python and data engineering concepts is highly desirable, as the role may gradually expand toward building automated data pipelines and data processing workflows.

Key Responsibilities

- Clean, standardize, and validate pharmaceutical datasets.

- Review and normalize pharmaceutical product information

- Identify and resolve duplicates, inconsistencies, missing values, and data quality issues.

- Develop and maintain rules for pharmaceutical data normalization.

- Convert and standardize different representations of pharmaceutical strengths and units.

- Perform data validation and quality checks before data is imported into the platform.

- Work with CSV and structured datasets as part of the current data workflow.

- Document data-cleaning rules and transformations to make the process reproducible.

- Collaborate closely with software and data teams to understand platform data requirements.

- Help identify opportunities to automate repetitive data-cleaning and validation tasks.

- Over time, contribute to developing automated data pipelines and broader data engineering workflows.

Requirements

Essential

- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical products and terminology.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify data inconsistencies.

- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Experience working with structured data, particularly Excel / CSV files.

- Ability to work independently and systematically with large datasets.

Technical Skills

- Good knowledge of Python, particularly pandas, is highly preferred.

- Understanding of data cleaning and data transformation concepts.

- Basic knowledge of SQL is a plus.

- Familiarity with data validation and quality-control techniques is a plus.

- Familiarity with ETL / ELT concepts is a plus.

- Experience with data engineering tools and workflows is a plus.

Nice to Have

- Previous experience working with pharmaceutical databases or drug information systems.

- Experience in pharmaceutical market data.

- Experience with data normalization or master data management.

- Experience building automated data-cleaning scripts.

- Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL.

- Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL tools, or workflow orchestration.

- Experience working with APIs or external data sources.

What You'll Do in the First Stage

Initially, the role will focus primarily on:

Raw Pharmaceutical Data → Cleaning → Standardization → Validation → Clean Dataset → Platform Ingestion

The workflow is currently relatively simple, but we expect the data operation to evolve over time. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help us design and automate the data-processing workflow as the platform grows.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who combines:

Pharmaceutical Knowledge + Data Quality Mindset + Technical Curiosity

You don't need to be an advanced Data Engineer from day one. However, you should be comfortable working with data programmatically and interested in gradually taking ownership of more advanced data engineering responsibilities.
