Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, supporting secondary science teaching at KS3 and KS4 levels. The Teaching Assistant will work closely with science teachers to support lesson delivery, prepare classroom materials and resources, and assist with practical activities and experiments in the laboratory. The role includes providing individual and small-group support to learners, helping reinforce key scientific concepts, and supporting differentiated learning strategies. The Teaching Assistant will assist in monitoring learner progress, maintaining an organized and safe classroom and lab environment, and contributing to the implementation of school policies and behavior expectations. The position requires active participation in school activities, collaboration with colleagues, and effective communication with learners and staff. Key responsibilities:Provide targeted academic support and intervention for students in KS3 and KS4 Science. Reinforce and re-teach key concepts in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate intervention records. Support teachers with lesson preparation, practical activities, and classroom organisation. Work collaboratively with the Science department to improve student outcomes. Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attendance, and achievement. Follow school safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection procedures. Qualifications & Experience:A-levels or degree in a Science-related subject. GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).2 years’ experience in a school environment preferred in the Secondary Science as learning support / teaching assistant positions. Experience using school data-tracking systems. Strong background in Science, with knowledge of KS3 Science and KS4 Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Experience working with young people in an educational setting. Ability to explain scientific concepts clearly and effectively to students with varying abilities. Experience supporting students with additional learning needs, SEND, or those requiring academic intervention. Skills & Competencies Ability to follow schemes of work and departmental guidance accurately. Strong organisational and record-keeping skills. Ability to monitor, interpret, and respond to student progress data. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexible, proactive, and willing to support wider departmental needs. Commitment to inclusive education and raising student achievement. Knowledge of intervention strategies and nurture provision.
