The Role We are seeking an experienced Industrial Robotics Manager to lead the strategy, engineering, implementation, optimization, and lifecycle management of industrial robotics and automated production systems. The ideal candidate will combine strong robotics engineering knowledge with operational and project leadership, overseeing robotic systems from concept and integration through commissioning, production ramp-up, performance optimization, maintenance, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement industrial robotics strategies aligned with manufacturing and business objectives. Identify automation opportunities across production, assembly, material handling, inspection, packaging, welding, and logistics processes. Lead robotics feasibility studies, automation assessments, business cases, pilots, and implementation programs. Evaluate industrial robots, robotic cells, automation platforms, end-of-arm tooling, vision systems, and control technologies. Manage robotics projects from concept, design, simulation, and procurement through installation, commissioning, and production stabilization. Define functional, technical, safety, performance, and integration requirements for robotic systems. Lead development and deployment of robotic cells, workstations, and automated production lines. Manage industrial robot applications including articulated robots, SCARA, delta, Cartesian, collaborative robots, and autonomous systems where appropriate. Oversee robotic applications for welding, painting, assembly, palletizing, packaging, machine tending, picking, inspection, dispensing, and material handling. Coordinate robot programming, motion planning, sequencing, tooling, fixtures, sensors, and machine interfaces. Ensure robots are effectively integrated with PLCs, HMIs, safety systems, vision systems, conveyors, sensors, and production equipment. Coordinate integration with MES, ERP, SCADA, industrial networks, and manufacturing data platforms. Lead robotic simulation, offline programming, cycle-time analysis, reach studies, collision checks, and process optimization. Establish standards for robot programming, controls architecture, electrical interfaces, mechanical integration, and documentation. Coordinate factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, commissioning, validation, and production handover. Monitor robotic system performance, availability, utilization, cycle time, throughput, precision, and reliability. Analyze production and robotics data to identify bottlenecks, recurring failures, and optimization opportunities. Lead root-cause analysis for robotic faults, downtime, quality issues, and production interruptions. Develop preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies for robotic systems. Work with Maintenance and Engineering teams to improve robot reliability and equipment lifecycle performance. Manage robot calibration, preventive inspections, software updates, backups, and configuration control. Coordinate spare-parts planning and critical component availability for robotic systems. Establish recovery procedures for robot failures, controls faults, communication failures, and production interruptions. Manage robotics vendors, OEMs, system integrators, controls specialists, and technology partners. Define vendor requirements, technical specifications, service levels, warranties, support models, and performance expectations. Monitor supplier performance, project quality, technical support, response times, and implementation milestones. Manage robotics capital projects, operating expenses, budgets, and lifecycle costs. Evaluate automation ROI, payback periods, labor productivity, capacity gains, quality improvements, and operating-cost reductions. Support manufacturing expansion, plant modernization, production-line upgrades, and new facility development. Ensure robotic solutions are scalable for changing production volumes, product variants, and manufacturing requirements. Coordinate robotics requirements for new product introduction and production ramp-up. Support DFM, DFA, process engineering, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing-readiness activities. Ensure robotic systems meet applicable machinery safety, functional safety, electrical, EMC, and operational requirements. Conduct robotic risk assessments and ensure appropriate guarding, interlocks, safety scanners, emergency stops, and safe operating procedures. Establish cybersecurity and access-control practices for connected robotic systems. Develop operational, maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, and emergency-response documentation. Coordinate training for robot operators, programmers, engineers, technicians, and maintenance teams. Establish competency requirements and certification programs for personnel working with robotic systems. Identify emerging technologies including AI-enabled robotics, machine vision, autonomous robots, digital twins, adaptive motion control, and robotic analytics. Evaluate opportunities to improve robotic systems through AI, computer vision, predictive analytics, simulation, and intelligent automation. Promote Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, reliability engineering, and continuous-improvement practices. Establish robotics technology roadmaps, architecture standards, lifecycle plans, and modernization priorities. Provide management with regular reports covering robotics performance, projects, reliability, costs, risks, capacity, and improvement opportunities. The candidate should demonstrate:Strong knowledge of industrial robotics and automated manufacturing systems. Experience managing robotic automation projects from concept through commissioning and optimization. Hands-on understanding of robot programming, motion control, tooling, fixtures, and robotic cell integration. Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, drives, sensors, safety systems, and industrial communication networks. Experience with robotic programming and simulation platforms. Understanding of machine vision, inspection systems, and robotic perception technologies. Experience integrating robotics with conveyors, machines, MES, SCADA, ERP, and factory automation systems. Strong understanding of industrial machinery and functional safety requirements. Experience with FAT, SAT, commissioning, validation, troubleshooting, and production ramp-up. Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance. Experience managing robotics OEMs, system integrators, suppliers, and technical contractors. Ability to evaluate automation investments, business cases, risks, and ROI. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using operational and equipment data. Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or other continuous-improvement methodologies. Understanding of robotics cybersecurity, configuration management, and system lifecycle requirements. Strong project-management, planning, budgeting, and stakeholder-management capabilities. Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple automation projects, priorities, technical issues, and deadlines. Experience working with international and distributed engineering and operations teams. Strong interest in emerging robotics, AI, vision, autonomous systems, and smart-factory technologies.
