<p>The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to support the project LANDMark on research on land economics, in any of the following areas:</p><br><br>

<li>Measurement of land prices, with a focus on imputation techniques</li>
<li>Land value determinants: public infrastructures (transport, health, and education services)</li>
<li>Macroeconomic stability and instability in the presence of land as a fixed, non-produced asset</li>
<li>Taxation of land wealth as an alternative to the consumption tax and the capital tax</li>
<li>The political economy of land and its taxation</li>
<li>Land, fixed resources, and political conflict</li>
</ul>
<p>The successful applicant will contribute to the research centered on any of these themes.</p><br><br>
<p>The qualified candidate will have an MSc or an MA in economics or another quantitative field with no more than five years from receipt of the degree, and an appetite for working on interdisciplinary teams.</p><br><br>

<p>The Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science and AI (CIDSAI) at NYU Abu Dhabi is a cross‑disciplinary hub where mathematicians, computer scientists, engineers, and social scientists join forces to push the boundaries of data‑driven discovery. Our mission is two‑fold: to advance fundamental theory in probability and machine learning, and to translate those breakthroughs into high‑impact tools that serve the UAE, the wider Arab world, and global society.</p><br><br>
<p>We are seeking a Junior Research Scientist to join the team to work under the theme of Computational & Interactive Health under the supervision of Dr. Farah Shamout & Dr. Hanan Salam and in close collaboration with Prof. Nizar Habash. The researcher is expected to have strong machine learning & AI skills and exemplary passion and motivation to pursue multidisciplinary research at the intersection of computing and healthcare. The project has three main objectives: (a) developing robust computational methods for decision-making in health based on clinical use cases of interest, (b) building a tailored health-focused Arabic knowledge interactive language model through the development of benchmark datasets, evaluation frameworks, and specialized LLMs and AI agents, and finally (c) designing specialized interactive multimodal multi-lingual natural interfaces.</p><br><br>

The successful candidate will assist with the deployment and maintenance of environmental monitoring equipment, process biological and environmental samples, maintain accurate field records, and contribute to data management and preliminary statistical analyses.<br><br>The Junior Research Scientist will also participate in laboratory activities, support field logistics and equipment preparation, contribute to technical reports and scientific publications, and assist with workshops and stakeholder engagement activities as required.<br><br>Applicants must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Biology, Marine Science, Fisheries Science, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline. Master's with less than 5 years of research experience in the relevant field, or a Bachelor's degree with any level of experience.<br><br>The ideal candidate will have experience participating in marine field surveys and collecting biological or environmental data. Experience with coral reef or fisheries monitoring, SCUBA diving certification, and proficiency in statistical software such as R are highly desirable.
