With our momentum—backed by a $17.3 billion valuation and $1 B in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) in just over five years—you'll drive meaningful impact while building expertise that makes you a sought-after leader in the transformation of global work.

What You'll Own

Production Operations

Monitor, triage, and resolve production incidents involving SQL Server performance, deadlocks, blocking, and index contention across Azure SQL Hyper Scale instances. Own the alerting stack (Zabbix), including threshold tuning, tag/host hygiene, and reducing alert noise without creating blind spots. Execute production data corrections using structured procedures (pre-check, execute, post-check, commit/rollback). Manage Azure SQL compute allocation across regions. Evaluate and implement compute isolation where traffic patterns justify it.

Performance Engineering

Read and interpret SQL Server execution plans end-to-end. Identify the costliest operator and trace it back to its root cause. Apply tactical fixes (plan hints, index adds, stats updates) that buy time, then design structural fixes tracked as debt. Index design: composite key order, include columns, covering vs. partial, online builds.

Schema Development & Release Safety

Review all database PRs against the team's checklist Own the schema deprecation pipeline: [deprecated] schema promotion, Drop Scheduled Date extended property, 30-day scream test before any DROP.

Knowledge & Documentation

Document database object intent using Extended Properties (MS_Description), not just external wikis. Expert-level T-SQL: window functions, CTEs, dynamic SQL (sp_executesql), OUTER APPLY, correlated subquery identification, temp table vs table variable trade-offs. Execution plan fluency: you can identify a Key Lookup, recognize a Parallel Nested Loop that should be a Hash Join, and explain why the optimizer made the wrong choice. Index design beyond "create an index and see if it speeds things up." You understand included columns, fill factor, fragmentation costs, and when NOT to add an index. Experience with multi-tenant, multi-country production databases where a bad migration can affect thousands of companies simultaneously. Disciplined about prod changes. You don't run anything in production without a rollback plan, a pre-check, and a post-check. Able to work autonomously: you don't wait to be told there's a problem. You monitor, you notice patterns, and you raise them.

Strong preference

Azure SQL Hyper Scale or Managed Instance experience. Azure Data Factory familiarity (pipelines, triggers, monitoring). Experience with payroll, HR, or financial data systems - not required, but you'll learn this domain faster if you have it. Zabbix or equivalent monitoring platform administration. Schema migration experience on a database with 500+ tables and active development traffic. Exposure to soft-delete patterns, audit triggers, and data retention compliance.

Nice to have

Power Shell scripting for DBA automation (index maintenance, health checks, access provisioning). Experience reviewing ORM-generated queries and translating developer intent into an efficient SQL shape.

Total Rewards

Our workforce deserves fair and competitive pay that meets them where they are.
