<strong>Job Overview</strong><br>The Fiber Engineer is an experienced fiber optic specialist supporting technically advanced well-surveillance projects involving conveyance optic cable to acquire DAS and DTS data in real time. The role covers the full operational cycle, including pre-job engineering, downhole fiber deployment, multi-vendor interrogator setup and operation, and data quality control. This is a field-intensive position requiring proven expertise in distributed fiber optic sensing (DFOS) and through-tubing intervention practices.<br><strong>Responsibilities</strong><br><ul><li>Plan and supervise deployment of fiber optic cable within capillary tubing for through-tubing conveyance in live production and injection wells.</li><li>Manage reel preparation, fiber termination, and surface connection to interrogation units.</li><li>Execute fiber optic splicing (fusion and mechanical), connector preparation, and optical loss management to maintain signal integrity across downhole fiber runs.</li><li>Conduct pre-job and post-job OTDR testing and optical verification to confirm fiber continuity and performance.</li><li>Troubleshoot deployment anomalies including fiber breaks, high attenuation events, and mechanical obstructions, performing root cause analysis and corrective actions.</li><li>Set up, configure, and operate multi-vendor DAS and DTS interrogation systems.</li><li>Configure acquisition parameters including pulse repetition frequency (PRF), gauge length, channel spacing, sampling frequency, and measurement range in line with well objectives and vendor operating envelopes.</li><li>Monitor real-time data streams during acquisition, identify anomalies, and adjust acquisition parameters on-site to optimize signal-to-noise ratio and data quality.</li><li>Archive acquired data in vendor-specific and non-proprietary formats with proper metadata tagging, depth/time referencing, and handover documentation.</li><li>Liaise with interrogator vendors for technical support, software updates, and calibration prior to field mobilization.</li><li>Provide technical input for RFQs, scope of work documents, and vendor qualification assessments related to fiber optic sensing and through-tubing DFOS contracts.</li></ul><strong>Skills</strong><br><ul><li>Hands-on proficiency in fusion splicing, mechanical splicing, OTDR trace analysis, optical loss budgeting, and fiber characterization.</li><li>Operational experience with two or more interrogator systems.</li><li>Ability to generate and interpret DAS waterfall plots and DTS temperature profiles, and recognize flow, leak, and valve-operation signatures using vendor software.</li><li>Familiarity with single-mode, multi-mode, and specialty-coated fibers and their mechanical and thermal performance under downhole conditions.</li><li>Proficiency in managing large DFOS datasets, including structured archiving, time/depth alignment, and preparation of clean data handover packages for clients.</li></ul><strong>Qualifications</strong><br><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in petroleum, electrical, optical/photonics engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.</li><li>Minimum of 6 years of experience in oilfield services, specifically in DFOS operations.</li><li>IWCF or WELL SHARP Well Control certification preferred.</li></ul>#LI-MD1<br><br><br> <p><span>Weatherford is a leading global energy services company. Job Purpose<p><span>Emirates Engineering is one of the world's most technologically advanced aircraft maintenance facilities.</span></p><br><br><p><span>We are GCAA CAR V approved, and support the world’s largest fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft, operated by Emirates. We also support the fleets of thirty other airlines through third-party maintenance contracts.</span></p><br><br><p><span>Our exceptional team sets industry benchmarks. To assist the Production Planning Engineers in the delivery of their role and support the Production team in the execution of maintenance. Ensure all activities are delivered to the highest standards of airworthiness, safety and quality compliance.</span></p><br><br><p><span>In this role you will: </span></p><br><br><ul><li>Provide supervision, training and guidance to any reporting team members.</li><li>Act as deputy for immediate supervisor when required.</li><li>Participate in projects to continuously improve the Production Planning Service.</li><li>Co-ordinate with internal and External Stakeholders as required to ensure the pre-draw is delivered before A/C input, including mod kits on the dates agreed with the production team.</li><li>Provide recommendations on task withdrawal based on part non-availability and lead times which do not support the check workflow.</li><li>Review all materials requests for the ongoing check to see if there is stock available and coordinate delivery based on order priority. Monitor for duplicate requests and cancel/adjust as required. Determine the best solution for all materials shortages. Coordinate with Material Organization/FTM on Part Basic set-up.</li><li>Co-ordinate all Ship Shop Ship(S/S/S), Tasks 2 and repair orders to ensure they will be returned to the aircraft in accordance with the required dates per the workflow plan or substitute parts are sourced.</li><li>Ensure all S/S/S or tasks 2 parts are dispatched with all required information listed.</li><li>Ensure all relevant stake holders are kept updated on the materials status for the check, especially any items which may impact on the workflow of the input.</li><li>Provide appropriate daily reports to the Production Planning Engineers and production teams.</li><li>Monitor the actual material issues the Check Budget and provide feedback to the production team on opportunities to reduce the materials cost including working with the production team to return unused parts.</li><li>Coordinate the Robbery activity for assigned events, ensuring robbery messages are sent and robbed parts are processed through the virtual robbery store to control R Class costs.</li><li>Co-ordinate all materials related closure actions at the end of each input including:<br>a. DBNU clean-up and feedback to the planning organisation for future DBNU reduction.<br>b.Review the materials spend in terms of parts, quantity & cost at the end of each input and provide recommendations on future stock levels, contingency spares orders and unusual order patterns.</li><li>Deliver and supervise the check work package preparation and compilation process for assigned events, from handover of a package by CAMO to the handover of it to the production team. Continuously update the work pack as supplements are added or tasks withdrawn.</li><li>Conduct technical review of the tasks which could be called up by Maintenance Planning to ensure the following is identified: task intent, special requirements (jacking, defueling, repairs, shop input, test flights etc.) dependencies, materials required, tooling required, new supporting task cards required and any other information which will aid the planning process. Ensure all issues identified as part of the technical review process are followed up with the concerned departments and resolved prior to the start of each input</li><li>Ensure segregation of work packages into working zones/trades as per the work flow plan for proper and smooth execution of maintenance input prior to each event. Ensure the work pack is displayed in the production area as required.</li><li>Actively work on DBNU reduction for routine tasks by working with the materials coordinators to identify route causes and do the necessary adjustment to the spares set up on the tasks to ensure DBNU is minimized. Adjust MQs in UM to match the daily plan of tasks.</li><li>Receive and complete audit of all paperwork prior to CRS and ensure it conforms to all EPM and quality requirements. Any paperwork failing audit to be returned to Production for correction and logged for error reporting.</li><li>Complete all IT systems transactions including tasks status tracking in the 145 task tracking system, task card closure and work pack closure in UM. Generate a post check completion report and distribute to all relevant parties and dispatch completed work packs to Technical Records.</li><li>Creation of Maintenance facilitation procedures/tasks as required to support the planned maintenance execution.</li><li>Produce a detailed man-hours (MH) estimate for each assigned event to support the workflow and manpower planning process.</li><li>Highlight first time tasks, tasks with high task & access man-hours, expected defects from historical trend and other tasks impacting production work flow plan as part of the detailed Estimate Report for every check input.</li><li>Keep the estimation database up to date with each new task on Emirates fleet broken down as per task steps, trade wise estimated MH with concurrent task requirements and access panels.</li><li>Perform defect analysis for completed inputs in terms of Non-Routine estimation taking into consideration check type, aircraft type, age, and in service issues to determine technical impact for future layovers.</li><li>Post each completed input produce the man-hour analysis in terms of clocking/ man-hour utilization.</li><li>Review Feedback Discrepancies of Production Planning to support teams/departments of EK Engineering in terms of documentation discrepancies, man-hours, as well as initiating developmental change in AMM and other manuals of related EK Fleet.</li><li>Ensure all the planned work is packaged, segregated into daily activities and provided to production. <p>The Life Molecules & Materials Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi pursuing cutting edge research in the areas of self-organization and function of proteins seeks to recruit a junior research scientist with expertise in quantitative confocal fluorescence microscopy and membrane biochemistry.</p><br><br>
<p>The lab is currently focused on (1) developing bottom-up approaches to study the role of membrane shape in the function of intracellular organelles such as Golgi Apparatus and (2) understanding the determinants of protein solubility in the crowded intracellular mileu. Our research integrates biochemistry with physical chemistry and soft matter physics, and employs state-of-the-art tools including analytical ultracentrifugation, optical tweezers, confocal fluorescence microscopy, SAXS, NMR spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. Group members receive training at the interface between physics, biology, and materials science, and will have access to generous travel allowances to attend international conferences and engage in scientific collaborations across the globe.</p><br><br>
<p>Candidates must have a B.S. in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field and should be proficient in basic quantitative microscopy and wet lab biochemistry techniques and have prior experience preparing and manipulating giant unilamellar vesicles.
